We are looking for a Test Engineer. This test engineering position is a hands-on role supporting test machines and staff and requires interaction with applications and product engineers, test technicians and contractors. It will require good technical skills, both mechanical and electrical/computer based as well as interpersonal skills and communication abilities both written and verbal to address the daily issues in the lab. The test lab operates equipment on a 24/7 basis within a larger global corporate testing group in which technical collaboration is important to program success.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This position is responsible for providing engineering support for the brake dynamometer and vehicle test activities performed at the Friction Products Technical Center.
  • The Test Engineer is responsible for providing support that meets our customer’s requirements.
  • Obtain fundamental knowledge of Automotive brake systems
    • Dynamometer testing (build-up, process, report creation, and script creation)
    • Vehicle testing (build-up, process, vehicle test driving, report creation, and script creation)
  • Develop a working knowledge of friction materials through testing and analysis
  • Travel as required to support business needs
  • Read and understand part drawings
  • Read and understand and execute test specifications
  • Understand programming languages used for machine control – specifically brake dynamometer
  • Understand Excel and visual basic programming to generate reports for customers – review and validate test results
  • Report testing progress to internal and external customers
  • Assist in testing scheduling
  • Assist in lab process and quality improvements

 

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience

 

Skills & Experience:

  • Previous experience in an automotive test engineering environment. Internship/co-op experience will be considered.
  • Familiarity with automotive test equipment and documentation.
