Tenneco’s Position on Inclusion, Diversity and Equity (ID&E)

At Tenneco, we believe that a commitment to Inclusion, Diversity and Equity is a business imperative, not just the right thing to do, because if done well it allows us to:

  • Become an employer of choice who can attract, develop and retain the best talent.
  • Drive innovation and meaningful results through high performing diverse teams who deliver an unmatched customer experience.
  • Develop leaders that champion a culture of inclusion and engagement.
  • Help strengthen the communities where we live and work.

How Do We Define ID&E?

Here are some examples of how Tenneco brings ID&E into our company culture.

Business Resource Groups

BRGs are affinity based groups designed to provide representation to underrepresented groups in the workplace.  They are designed to drive engagement, promote team member development, create visibility and opportunities and to provide a diverse perspective to the business.  BRGs are run by team members, for team members.  They are grass roots programs led by volunteers and actively supported by leadership.  BRGs are funded, sanctioned, visibly leveraged and supported at the enterprise level.  BRGs are sometimes referred to as Affinity Groups or Networks, Employee Resource Groups, or Business Resource Groups.  At Tenneco we use the name Business Resource Group because our BRGs are designed as a resource for the team and for the business.

Women

The Women's BRG is a network for women and male allies that focuses on the engagement and professional development of our current and future female leaders. In addition to development, mentoring, and networking opportunities for members, this BRG also explores women’s workplace challenges and host community outreach activities. This BRG engages with the business around issues like team member attraction and engagement, leadership and policy development.

Black/African Heritage

The Black/African Heritage BRG promotes awareness and creates a safe and constructive environment for all team members of African heritage and their allies. Participants develop professional skills and connections to the community through educational opportunities, networking and cultural events. This BRG engages with the business around issues like team member attraction and engagement, social issues and demographic and cultural differences.

Young Professional

The Young Professional BRG provides team members early in their career, regardless of actual working years, the opportunity to build strong networks with global peers, the necessary workplace skills to achieve career and business goals through diverse professional development, social, and community activities. This BRG engages with the business around issues like technology, innovation and team building.

IDEA Board

As Inclusion and Diversity is foundational to all measures of a company’s success, Tenneco’s IDEA Board was founded to help develop and assist the company’s efforts to engrain the values of diversity into the fabric of our culture, empowering our team members to use the collective momentum created to make tomorrow better.
