We are looking for  a Plant Controller for our Manitowoc, WI facility. The Plant Controller directs the financial affairs of the organization and prepares financial analyses of operations, including interim and final financial statements with supporting documentation for the guidance of management. The Controller is responsible for the plant’s financial plans, controls, and policies, its accounting practices, the maintenance of its fiscal records, and the preparation of reports.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

 

 

  • Responsible to collaborate with staff members to make plant level decisions.
  • Development, analysis, and interpretation of statistical and accounting information in order to monitor operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, and other matters dealing with the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the organization.
  • Manages the preparation of weekly flash, monthly forecast, annual profit plans, and maintains surveillance on inventories and plant performance in relation to established objectives including analyzing and reporting variances.
  • Manages all accounting activities involved in billing, accounts payable (handled through shared services), payroll, capital assets, general ledger and standard costing systems and ensures that all activities are in compliance with SOX and company  established plant, group, and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Manages the department by setting goals and objectives, determining action within policies required to meet goals. Determines personnel needs and takes action to meet those needs, conducting training, development, counseling, and performance evaluation of department team members.
  • Initiates and maintains procedures, records, and reports relating to the financial management and methods of the plant and assists in the interpretations and analysis of reports to Plant Manager and his staff.
  • Manages internal and external audit requests.
  • Maintain the accuracy of the financial analysis of the AR submissions.
  • Maintain standard costing.
  • Support corporate requests to ensure company’s ability to comply with GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley.
  • Manages IT.
  • Support operations/manufacturing activities to achieve production output, productivity and employee satisfaction goals.
  • All other duties as may be assigned.

 

 

 

 

EDUCATION: 4 year degree in Accounting/Finance with 5 years experience in financial accounting in a manufacturing environment with at least 3 of those years in a supervisory position. CPA/MBA preferred.

 

 

 

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

 

 

 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office  and mainframe-based accounting systems are required. BPCS, SAP and 10Stream experience is helpful.
  • Reflects reading, analytical, interpersonal and other knowledge levels, skills and abilities required to perform the duties of the job.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing/packaging/distribution processes.
  • Detailed knowledge of financial and cost accounting principles.
  • Working knowledge of Sarbanes – Oxley 404.
  • Analytical abilities necessary to plan and prioritize own work and complete work on schedule while maintaining appropriate documentation. 
  • Ability to prepare detailed financial reports.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to exchange information with variety of staff.
  • Ability to establish and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience in guiding and directing a team towards a common goal.
  • Able to apply interpret and utilize Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Demonstrated skills in the operation of various computer programs including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Able to access QMS/job instruction documents and incorporate them into daily work activities.
