We are looking for an Accountant for our facility in Frankfort, IN. The Accountant will be responsible for the ongoing analysis of process constraints, target costing projects, margin analysis, and tracing costs back to underlying activities. Additionally, the position will also construct and monitor those cost-effective data accumulation systems needed to provide an appropriate level of costing information to management. The ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced manufacturing environment is essential to your success at Tenneco. This position will report directly to the Accounting Supervisor. We are looking for outstanding communication skills—interpersonal, speaking, writing and listening. An ideal candidate is someone who is degreed with CPA or CMA certification, and who has plant Cost Accounting experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Updates new parts for bill of materials, routers and overhead rates monthly.
  • Complete the annual Standard Cost revision
  • Assist in the preparation of the operating budget and forecasts on a monthly and annual basis.
  • Analyzing changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods or services provided, to determine effects on cost.
  • Making estimates of new and proposed product costs or prepare cost estimates for new products and product changes.
  • Review raw material and packaging standard costs for accuracy on an annual basis. Review purchase price variance accounts monthly.
  • Prepare and process daily sales and labor reports for the plant.
  • Lead the plant wide quoting and Sarbanes-Oxley audit process.
  • Assess inventory control measures and develops measures to improve inventory accuracy in conjunction with Logistics and Operations.
  • Analyze and prepare journal entries at month end, quarter end, and year end close.
  • Assist in the enforcement and tracking of month end close deadlines.
  • Develops and analyzes material and labor variances to suggest improvements within the current process.
  • Create ad hoc reports, analysis and special projects as required by management.
  • Process accounts payable invoices
  • Process hourly payroll

 

 

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field required. CPA or CMA certification preferred.

 

 

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

 

  • 3+ years of accounting/finance experience with increasing responsibility.
  • Knowledgeable of accounting databases.
  • Union experience preferred.
  • Familiar with SOX and internal controls.
  • Good interpersonal skills necessary to interface with a wide variety of internal and external contacts.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills and experience (especially Excel pivot tables)
