Position: Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator Location: Cambridge, Ontario

Reporting Relationship: EHS Manager

 

Position Summary

Manage all health, safety and environmental issues to ensure compliance with legislative requirements.

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with WSIB / work compensation management
  • Certified Management representation and co-chair of Joint Health and Safety Committee
  • Co-ordinate activities of the Joint Health and Safety Committee
  • Conduct and Co-ordinate safety/environmental training
  • Participate and Lead environmental and safety audits
  • Lead internal PSIF (hazard reporting) program
  • Support waste management program
  • Comply with all legislated environmental/safety requirements
  • Support Ministry of Labour investigations and compliance
  • Contribute to company continuous improvement processes
  • Maintain communication/reports for the Internally and Globally (WSIB, JHSC, Safety KPI, ISO14001 KPI, etc.)
  • Participate in Health and Safety initiatives and activities
  • Provide assistance to EHS Manager
  • Comply with requirements and assist in maintenance of the necessary quality standards (QS9000/ISO/TS16949/ISO14001) to ensure re-certification
  • Participate in internal and external ISO14001 audits
  • Participate in emergency preparedness events and attend first aid support

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Post-Secondary Education or 3-5 years of experience in related role
  • First Aid certified (CPR – A & AED)
  • JHSC Part 1 and 2 certified
  • Working knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Basic knowledge of environmental regulations, process waste disposal
  • Working knowledge of WSIB Act
  • Knowledge of injury and illness prevention techniques, hazard recognition, emergency response and incident
  • Team player with clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Tact, diplomacy and respect for confidentiality
