This is an excellent opportunity to join us as a Junior Cloud Engineer. This is a technical role with exposure to multiple technologies to deliver enterprise hosting services for business and infrastructure applications. This includes designing Cloud services alongside on-prem supporting systems and using the appropriate tools to manage, monitor, and secure those technologies across the enterprise.
The Junior Cloud Engineer is focused with his team on building a resilient, scalable, and secure platform for delivering and managing IaaS technologies. This position also provides escalation for Microsoft Azure and Citrix Services teams to resolve incidents, fulfill work requests, and complete project deliverables.
This position may require international travel to interact with team members and business partners for project activities.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Works within a cross-functional team for deploying industry best practice IaaS solutions
- Helps architecting enterprise-wide technology solutions utilizing industry best practices
- Participating in developing and maintenance of the technology roadmaps
- Oversees managed service providers used to deliver services
- Help defines and measures KPIs to maintain the health of services
- Participates with initiatives to evolve technologies and drive continuous improvement of services
- Reviews and approves change requests as part of change management
- Specifies and maintains technology standards
- Acts as an escalation point for various complex issues related to areas of expertise
- Collaborates with all areas of IT to help in designing and implementing solutions
- Participate in project planning and execution for infrastructure-focused projects
- Provides technical advice as part of cross-functional project teams
- Develops procedures for support and maintenance of technologies for enterprise regional support teams
- Participates in recovery, maintenance, and project activities outside regular business hours
What you bring to the table:
- Education: 4-year University degree (BS, BA, or equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, or Mathematics.
- 2+ years of experience with data center technologies and Cloud services with a focus on Microsoft-based systems and services
- Experience managing Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) for medium to large-scale global enterprises (100+ servers)
- Experience with templatized cloud deployments using infrastructure as code models
- Expertise in Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop solutions
- Familiarity working with ITIL framework and processes
- Experience overseeing the quality of work performed by managed service providers, contractors, and consultants
- Microsoft Azure Certifications are a plus
- Experience working in a global manufacturing organization is a plus
- Ability to work independently with minimal guidance from supervisor/manager
- Ability to effectively prioritize work for team members, contractors, and consultants
- Ability to clearly specify requirements, deliverables, and measurements for external and internal resources for project work
- Ability to lead governance meetings as part of vendor service management activities
- Business acumen to understand the impact of changes and service disruptions
- Functional knowledge of infrastructure and application technologies and concepts and how they relate to the delivery and maintenance of services such as LAN/WAN, ADFS, Azure, Data Protection, Disaster Recovery
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- Ability to work collaboratively with both technical and non-technical resources to architect, design, and implement solutions
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair complex technical problems with team members, customers, and vendors quickly and effectively
- Ability to work successfully as part of a global, virtual team
