Global AP Manager

This position is responsible for leading and transforming our global Accounts Payable operations, including both captive and outsourced functions. The AP Manager will drive standardization, efficiency, and excellence across all Shared Services Centers globally. Success will be measured by the standardization of processes, cost reductions, productivity improvements, and the implementation of automation tools. 

 

 

What you will do

Strategic Leadership:

  • Adhere to the strategic vision for the global AP function, aligned with Tenneco’s overall strategy and objectives.
  • Ensure the AP function supports the company’s mission and contributes to its success.

Operational Excellence:

  • Oversee AP operations conducted globally from multiple offices per BU, ensuring high-quality, seamless, and cost-effective services.
  • Continuously improve AP processes and systems to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Global Operations Oversight:

  • Manage both captive and outsourced AP operations to ensure high performance and alignment with global standards.
  • Ensure consistency and efficiency in AP processes.

Process Standardization and Optimization:

  • Drive the standardization and harmonization of AP processes.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices.

Innovation and Transformation:

  • Lead transformation initiatives, including the adoption of new technologies and automation tools (e.g., RPA) to optimize AP operations.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure our AP function remains cutting-edge.

Productivity and Cost Management:

  • Suggest and implement strategies to increase productivity, reduce the cost to serve, and centralize more AP functions.
  • Drive automation and process improvements to achieve cost savings and operational efficiencies.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Partner with CFOs, BU Ops Controllers, and other key stakeholders to evaluate and improve the AP landscape.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all AP-related matters, providing expertise and guidance.

Performance Management:

  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the effectiveness and efficiency of AP processes.
  • Drive a culture of accountability and performance excellence within the AP team.

 

 

What makes you successful

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. MBA or professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA) is a plus.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Accounts Payable or a related finance function, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record of driving process improvements and leading transformational initiatives.

Skills:

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to drive fact-based decision making.
  • Strong knowledge of AP best practices, technologies, and industry trends.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficient in relevant financial software and tools, such as SAP and ERP programs.
  • Strong project management skills, including stakeholder, timeline, and meeting management skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills and an understanding of terms, conditions, and contracting techniques for managing risk.
  • Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal, and presentation skills; comfortable and credible with both internal stakeholders and external audiences.
  • Able to work up, down, and across a large organization; connects at all levels, i.e., operations, management, executives.
  • A flexible, dynamic, self-demanding, and proactive individual; able to motivate themselves and others; easily accepts constructive input from others.
