EMEA Customs Manager

Role purpose: lead the Trade Compliance program for EMEA and provide support and guidance to Tenneco business and manufacturing locations across the region. Strive for unquestionable execution and compliance and maximize savings.

 

What you will have to do:

  • Trade Compliance operations guidance and support to EMEA locations

  • Escalation points for guidance in complex import and export matters.

  • Manage customs duties and fees and maximize cash recovery / cost avoidance and deferral.

  • Oversee special customs programs that deliver elevated levels of compliance and reduce duty payments.

  • Support Tenneco facilities to ease imports and exports.

  • Coordination of customs brokers and implement procedures to support operations (Broker Management)

  • Review Vendor and Customer Selection for Sanctions (Screening)

  • Free Trade Agreements/Country of Origin: Providing guidance and support to the locations, escalation point.

  • Support of internal and external trade compliance and customs audis including guidance and support in preparation, documentation and implementation of corrective actions.

  • Assistance with determination of import duties and import requirement analysis.

  • Assistance and guidance for implementation of new legal requirements in the region, including the area of sustainability initiatives (e. g. CBAM, EUDR and others)

  • Handle regional trade metrics: data gathering, reporting, analysis and review for efficiency opportunities

  • Develop and implement policies and procedures based on US and EU Regulations.

  • Oversee internal compliance reviews and audits.

  • Develop document standards, retention, and guidance.

 

What will make you successful:

  • At least 3-5 years of relevant experience in customs & trade compliance

  • Operational experience in export and import procedures

  • Ability in EU Customs regulations and procedures

  • Supply Chain & Logistics operational background, ideally also in Finance.

  • Experience classifying products using Harmonized Tariff Schedules and Export Control Classification Numbers

  • Completed training or studies, certified Customs Specialist, or similar, advanced knowledge in Customs & Trade Compliance (required)

  • Completed training or studies in Supply Chain & Logistics or Finance (optional)

  • Advanced computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office (required)

  • SAP or similar ERP systems software experience (preferred)

  • Ability to travel.

  • Fluent in English language
