ABOUT THE ROLE
The Value Stream Supervisor is responsible for leading, directing, and optimizing all manufacturing operations within an assigned value stream to meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost (SQDC) targets. This role focuses on driving continuous improvement through lean manufacturing principles, ensuring strict compliance with IATF 16949 quality standards, and developing a highly skilled, multi-functional shop-floor team to consistently fulfill automotive OEM/Tier 1 customer demands.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Production & Operations Management
- Execute Production Schedules: Oversee daily production activities to meet the Master Production Schedule (MPS) and ensure 100% on-time delivery (OTD) to automotive OEMs or Tier-1 customers.
- Resource Allocation: Manage and assign headcount, machinery, and material resources effectively to optimize Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and minimize changeover/setup times.
- Takt Time Compliance: Monitor manufacturing cycle times against Takt time to ensure steady production flow and eliminate bottlenecks.
- Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement
- Value Stream Mapping (VSM):
- Maintain and update Value Stream Maps to identify, isolate, and eliminate the 8 Wastes (Muda) within the production line.
- Kaizen & 5S: Lead shop-floor Kaizen events and maintain strict 5S workplace organization standards to optimize ergonomics and workflow efficiency.
- Visual Management: Maintain up-to-date Visual Management Boards (production tracking charts, hourly counts, and KPI dashboards) to ensure full operational transparency.
- Quality Assurance & Automotive Compliance
- IATF 16949 Standards: Ensure strict compliance with IATF 16949 quality management systems, Layered Process Audits (LPAs), and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Defect Reduction: Monitor Scrap Rates and First Time Through (FTT) quality. Implement immediate containment actions when non-conformances are detected.
- Core Tools Application: Support the engineering team in utilizing automotive core tools, including FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), SPC (Statistical Process Control), and 8D problem-solving methodologies for root cause analysis.
- Team Leadership & Workforce Development
- Supervision & Coaching: Supervise, mentor, and evaluate the performance of line leaders and production operators.
- Cross-Training Matrix: Maintain and update a skills/cross-training matrix to ensure workforce flexibility, line balancing, and smooth rotation.
- Time & Attendance: Manage shift handovers, operator attendance, overtime schedules, and labor efficiency tracking.
- Maintenance & Asset Management
- TPM Implementation: Collaborate with the maintenance department to execute Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) schedules and autonomous maintenance tasks by operators.
- Downtime Minimization: Respond rapidly to equipment breakdowns to minimize unplanned downtime and coordinate quick-response troubleshooting.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree
- At least 5 years’ experience as an VS or MFG or CI generalist in a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated experience in managing production lines, meeting strict manufacturing schedules, and leading teams of 20+ operators.
- Strong knowledge of Lean tools such as Value Stream Mapping (VSM), Kaizen, 5S, Kanban, SMED (Single-Minute Exchange of Die), and TPM. Lean Green Belt or Black Belt certification is highly preferred.
- Strong analytical skills with a focus on manufacturing metrics such as OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), Scrap Rates, FTT (First Time Through), and OTD (On-Time Delivery).
- Experience using ERP/MES systems (SAP) for production tracking, inventory management, and labor scheduling.
- Skill in cross-functional collaboration.
- Fluent in oral and written English.
