ABOUT THE ROLE

As a senior Program Buyer, you will receive Program(s) to manage Purchasing activities needed. A Program is a shock/damper technology linked with a vehicle is developing.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify new components to be developed and carry over components: source new components and align RFQ/Nomination strategy with Commodity Buyer; verify and put in place necessary capacity in suppliers for carryover.
  • Use estimation tool and control target prices set by project team.
  • Analyze and compare offers and provide best choice for your project and for the organization in terms of cost, planning and quality.
  • Nominate the suppliers and track the cost evolution of the components during the development till the serial life.
  • Launch the new components and follow the development until the PPAP approval with the support of Supplier Development.
  • Propose design/process modification to increase the project margin.
  • Propose and put in place process improvement to provide the best support to project team.
  • Provide feedback to Commodity Buyer to adapt their strategy depending on your experience with supplier.
  • Participate as Project Team Member and report Purchasing activities made during the project.
  • Comply with Tenneco values.
  • Flawless launch of purchasing components, meet TenPlus purchasing deliverables.
  • Support secured booked business & NTI.
  • Implement localization/VAVE in project development.
  • Execute critical strategic and footprint initiatives.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering or economics.
  • At least 5 years’ experience as project team member or commodity buyer with component localization experience.
  • Rich work experience in automotive industry, priority to passenger car.
  • Work collaboratively with individuals and groups from a wide variety of backgrounds and organization levels, to incorporate their ideas, adapt to their needs, and to form consensus in appropriate situations.
  • Curious, you are interested in all kinds of manufacturing process and understand the cost impact of the process on the component to reach the best option for Tenneco.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills, to be able to negotiate with your project team and with the suppliers. You will be able to do it following all the rules defined.
  • Result oriented, you will provide the necessary saving and will be able to show it.
  • Fluent in English, all other language is a plus.
  • Willing to travel and work under pressure.
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
