Product Engineer

Position Location:

  • DRiV/Tenneco, Winchester, VA, Central Engineering Office.

Job Scope:

  • The Central Engineering Department provides Engineering support to the DRiV Aftermarket Braking Division.   The Central Engineering Department is responsible for New Product Introductions, product drawing creation, drawing management, and all component reviews and approvals.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Maintain professional behavior and appearance
  • Follow all Safety Rules while performing assigned work
  • Interface with other internal departments such as manufacturing, marketing, sales and purchasing
  • Work under the guidance of the Engineering staff and can be requested to help on any projects assigned to the Engineering department
  • Creation and modification of engineering drawings using AutoCAD or BricsCAD
  • Load DWG drawings into Autodesk PLM database
  • Create and load PDF drawings into Autodesk PLM database
  • Maintain Engineering BOM data in Autodesk
  • Review Component and Finished Goods PPAPs and load approved PSWs in Autodesk
  • Write ECOs in Autodesk for approved Components
  • Review NPI BOMs in SAP and compare to NPI records for approval
  • Review and validate sample disc brake components.  Samples include back plates, shims, hardware, rotors and calipers. Test fitting components to ensure correct fitment.
  • Perform OE assessments on Rotors and document findings in Rotor NPI database
  • Assist with Edge code registration submissions and maintenance
  • Create and maintain packaging labels in the plant wide box label database
  • Travel to manufacturing locations as required

Qualifications include:

  • Minimum education: BS Engineering, preferably mechanical engineering
  • 2 to 4 years of manufacturing engineering or product engineering
  • Knowledge of automotive industry very helpful and interest of automotive braking systems preferred
  • Strong computer skills required, must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excel experience required. 
  • AutoCAD or BricsCAD experience required.
  • Candidate must display maturity and a high level of professionalism.
  • Strong written, verbal, analytical, and interpersonal skills required.
