SUMMARY: Overseeing and optimizing the entire production process to meet quality, quantity and deadline target.  To do this they will directs and coordinates activities of production department(s) in processing materials or manufacturing products in industrial organization by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participates in training to produce a quality product / services, uses preventative measures to ensure the customer requirements and Tenneco standards are met.
  • Comply with legal and other requirements to avoid injury and/or ill health to themselves and others.
  • Understands preventative measures and creates a safe and healthy environment by having the ability to identify potential emergency situations and reports all incidents to supervisor/ manager.
  • Adhere to the facility’s quality, environmental, health and safety policies that are identified by our Management Systems.

  • Directly supervises employees and supervisors in the manufacturing and shipping department.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; setting performance goal and appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Responsible for the Quality and Environmental, Health and Safety Management Systems. Ensuring that they are being implemented and managed effectively and that performance improvements are taking place within their departments.
  • Is responsible for and has authority to initiate action to prevent nonconformity’s, identify and record nonconformities, and formulate solutions and verify solutions for problems occurring during the production process.  Works closely with all department managers in this regard.
  • Responsible for maintaining a safe and environmentally sound work environment and should report any non-compliance to the Environmental Health & Safety Engineer.
  • Reviews production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, efficiencies and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan department operations.
  • Plans production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products, while monitoring inventory levels such as turns.
  • Keeps Plant Manager appraised of production problems/quality concerns, personnel related issues and other pertinent information as necessary.
  • Prepares operational schedules, coordinates manufacturing activities and lean activities to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications and delivery is on time.
  • Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
  • Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observes employees to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Responsible for performance monitoring, problem-solving, continuous improvement, and reporting on production metrics
  • Identify opportunities for improvement, implement process enhancements, and lead initiatives 
  • Compiles, stores, and retrieves production data.
  • Works with employees and Supervisors to resolve personnel issues.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Attendance is required.

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; and 3  to 5 years related experience and/or training

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and write English. Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conforms to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Proficient in MS Word and Excel.  Ability to adapt to new software and upgrades.  Must be independently motivated and a self-starter.  Must have demonstrated follow-through and leadership skills. Must be able to maintain all information in the Human Resources office on a confidential basis.
