SUMMARY: Directs production, distribution, and administrative operations for Tenneco Waupun manufacturing plant by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate managers or supervisors.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The Plant Manager has the responsibility for the implementation of the Quality and Environmental, Health and Safety Policy and Management Systems. Ensuring that the policies and the management systems are being managed effectively and those performance improvements are taking place within their departments.
  • Responsible for working safely, adhering to the facility’s environmental, health and safety policies and procedures and continually monitoring the work environment to identify and communicate to supervisors / managers current or potential environmental, health or safety concerns.
  • Coordinates production, distribution, warehousing, and sales in accordance with policies, principles, and procedures established by the Corporation.
  • Confers with customers and representatives of associated industries to evaluate and promote improved and expanded services in area.
  • Develops plans for efficient use of materials, machines, and employees.
  • Reviews production costs and product quality, and modifies production and inventory control programs to maintain and enhance profitable operation of division.
  • Reviews operations of competing organizations and plans and directs sales program to develop new markets.
  • Maintains compliance with all applicable federal, state and local requirements.
  • Ensures that required industry certifications are maintained.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Is responsible for and has authority to initiate action to prevent nonconformity’s, identify and record nonconformity’s, and formulate solutions and verify solutions for problems occurring during the production process.  Works closely with all department managers in this regard.
  • Responsible for maintaining and committed to the prevention and improvements of a safe, healthy and environmentally sound work environment.
  • Establishes, or recommends to management, major economic objectives and policies for company.
  • Prepares reports, which summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations.
  • Directs preparation of budgets.
  • Analyzes data obtained and records results.
  • Provides management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Attendance is required.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or two years progressive related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and write English. Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conforms to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY:

Abiity to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Proficient in MS Word and Excel.  Ability to adapt to new software and upgrades.  Must be independently motivated and a self-starter.  Must have demonstrated follow-through skills.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
