PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Performs manufacturing engineering functions relative to department objectives.

DUTIES INCLUDE: 

  1. Investigates and solves production problems related to tooling, equipment and processes.
  2. Develops, recommends and implements the installation of changes which will result in the improvement of manufacturing processes or product quality.
  3. Co-ordinates trial runs on proposed changes or on sample parts and evaluates the results.
  4. Provides technical advice and instructions to production coordinators and hourly employees.
  5. *Designs or secures tools and equipment consistent with company design and equipment standards.
  6. Consults deviations from engineering standards and follow up on communications with respect to such deviations.
  7. Instructs designers who are performing work related to engineer's responsibilities.
  8. Assist in development of capital and expense budgets for area of responsibility.
  9. Position has the responsibility and authority for quality commensurate with the accountabilities of the job description.
  10. Performs other engineering tasks on an as needed basis.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
 

EDUCATION: Associate degree in technical related field or high school diploma with required experience.
EXPERIENCE:  Ten (10) years experience in manufacturing or product engineering.
*If assigned to molding process:  Minimum of five (5) years experience in molding operation (including related chemistry) or a combination of a minimum of five (5) years of formal technical education and molding (including related chemistry) experience.                    
SKILLS:  Ability to plan, coordinate activity.  Ability to work well with plant personnel and vendors.
