RESPONSIBILITIES:
|
- Provides assistance and advice to supervision on environmental, health and safety matters.
- Identifies and monitors actual or potential hazards in the workplace in accordance with prescribed procedures and ensuring compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Conducts routine surveys to determine the nature and extent of unsafe work practices and recommends corrective actions.
- Prepares and tracks safety performance metrics for assigned areas and provides recommendations for continual improvement.
- Regularly conducts environmental and safety inspections including daily floor reviews for assigned areas.
- Participates in facility lean program and completes EHS standard work. Conducts daily FMPS reviews, layered process audits, and participates in other lean activities.
- Responsible for leading and improving value stream specific safety committee(s), incident investigations, equipment reviews and releases, and EHS training.
- Ensures total compliance with OSHA safety and training requirements.
- Timely reporting of all safety incidents (completion of monthly reporting to corporate and other groups as required).
- Identifies, recommends and monitors machine guarding improvements.
- Ensures a safe plant for all employees by enforcing Zero Tolerance, (Tenneco Tips in timely manner), providing EHS training, conducting EHS audits and conducting accident investigating.
- Ensure that federal, state and local laws, regulations, rules and codes are observed
- Manages recordkeeping and reporting requirements
- Coordinates safety training for new and existing employees for new employee orientation and annual required programs
- Helps develop controls for identified hazards, coordinate the implementation of controls from result of hazard analysis. Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of the hazard control system, policies, and procedures and recommend changes that reflect improved opportunities to eliminate workplace accidents and injuries.
- Coordinates with environmental coordinator on development and implementation of haz mat procedure and policies.
- Identify and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices in the workplace, conduct and coordinate on-site inspections to audit physical conditions and safe work practices. Provide advice and counseling for all compliance regulations.
- Compiles, analyzes, interprets, and reports accidents. Review property and injury reports. Responsible for the overall administration of workers compensation program.
- Monitors, revises, and implements ongoing updates in safety regulations, laws or reporting requirements
- Provide expertise in environmental control and possibly energy utilization.
- Develops programs to satisfy current and developing environmental regulations and legislation.
- Ensures that the facility and its processes follow and are in compliance with current and evolving regulations.
- Obtains and maintains operating permits in compliance with permit conditions.
- Designs, plans, or performs engineering duties in the prevention, control, and remediation of environmental health hazards utilizing various engineering disciplines.
- Work may include waste treatment, site remediation, or pollution control technology.
- Develops proposed project objectives and targets, and reports to management on progress in attaining.
- Develop site-specific health and safety protocols, such as spill contingency plans and methods for loading and transporting waste.
- Inform company employees and other interested parties of environmental issues.
- Assist in budget implementation, forecasts and administration.
- Serve as liaison with federal, state, local agencies and officials on issues pertaining to solid and hazardous waste program requirements. Prepare hazardous waste manifests and land disposal restriction notifications.
- Develop and present environmental compliance training or orientation sessions.
- Responsible for applying engineering principles and analytical techniques to establish and continuously improve manufacturing processes and products with may include determining the machines, equipment, tools and the sequence of operations necessary to perform production and assembly operations.
- Support facility environmental compliance as required by permits and written programs, through regular contacts with operations and engineering personnel
- Maintain and update all SDS’s for all products being used on the site to assist in spill response and required annual chemical reporting under the Community Right to Know regulations
- Function as an onsite coordinator in the event of a reportable spill
- Audit onsite contractors and contractor facilities to ensure compliance with requirements and procedures
- Gather data required and complete and file all required environmental reports with local, state and federal regulatory agencies
- Purchasing of all safety supplies, products or training items required
- Self-starter yet able to take direction.
