JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to drive a sit-down and stand-up forklift or be willing to be cross trained. High school diploma or reading, writing, mathematical and communication skills equivalent to a high school diploma plus a minimum of 6 months' related experience.  Ability to work shifts and overtime.  Ability to learn other Team Member positions to serve as backup for absences, lunches, breaks, etc.  At least 3 months in a computer-oriented environment is required.  Previous experience operating an industrial fork truck or the ability to learn to drive an industrial fork truck and successfully pass the requirements of the Spring Hill Forklift Safety Training Program in compliance with OSHA regulations is necessary. 

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

Pay rate is $24.25 with a $0.75 premium on 2nds. Manually (or by hand truck, power hoist, or industrial fork truck) moves materials, supplies, and finished goods to designated places in the facility or on to trucks by performing the essential functions listed in the next section.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Reads work orders or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials/containers to be moved.
  • Opens containers and unpacks materials.  Issues receiver number for all items received.  Maintains receiving lots and photocopies for Finance department; Supervisor, Materials; and Requisition.
  • Assembles crates to contain products to be shipped.
  • Conveys materials from storage or work sites to designated area.  Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on cases, bales, or other containers.  Stacks or assembles materials into bundles and bands bundles together.  Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand, by using power hoist, or by operating industrial fork truck.  Loads materials into vehicles and places protective materials around load to prevent shifting or damage in transit.
  • Counts, weighs, and records number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheet.
  • Initiates packing list for all shipments through the computer system.
  • Maintains inventories on the mainframe computer system.  Periodically prints inventory report and takes physical inventory to ensure accuracy.
  • Inspects and tests industrial fork truck at prescribed intervals of time.  Reports mechanical or electrical difficulties to Maintenance department.  Immediately removes from service any potentially dangerous equipment.
  • Follows all environmental, health, safety, and quality procedures, rules, and policies.
  • Practices good housekeeping.  Collects trash and deposits in trash hopper.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: 

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: 

Tenneco Spring Hill forklift license required.
