The Product Engineer will have engineering responsibility for the launch of a new product related to automotive ride control components. This position requires excellent collaboration with adjacent departments such as product management, purchasing, and supply chain to ensure adherence with the project schedule, as well as marketing to promote the product launch.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Developing DFMEA reports, product specifications and test plans through research, competitor benchmarking, customer interviews and supplier feedback
- Coordination of data collection, communication with suppliers pertaining to product requirements, testing and design, and review of designs to verify compliance with specifications.
- Responsibilities will also include routine new part introduction as well as maintenance of the product line including coordination of engineering changes related to quality, resourcing and product improvement.
- Working with global teams that will require occasionally evening calls potential international travel.
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering field.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
Experience authoring DFMEA, product specifications and test plans are required.
Must have a minimum of 1 year experience in product engineering.
Basic familiarity with automotive service and repair is expected.
Must be proficient in planning, scheduling, tracking project timelines, and communicating the status of projects to management Computer literacy in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project and Teams is expected.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required to coordinate project activities between multiple departments and remote offices.
Must be a self-stater and be able to carry out the project plan with little supervision.
Candidates with above average experience with automotive service and repair or experience working in the automotive industry are strongly preferred.
Experience in automotive suspension and ride control would be beneficial.
Experience working with global company and supplier engineering teams is preferred.
Knowledge and experience in selection and use of ferrous metals, elastomers, welding, coating, plastics and sintered metal processes is preferred.
