Tenneco/DRiV is looking for an experienced, innovative, and creative Director, Category Management to lead DRiV's market intelligence and customer analytics support teams within the assigned regions. Reporting to the VP, Product Solutions, the Director, Category Management is responsible for all market intelligence and customer analytics support within the assigned regions.  The role will be responsible to lead a team category managers as well as serve as the lead for Commercial Vehicle category management.

 

From a category management standpoint, the Director will collaborate with colleagues to maintain best-in-class sales tracking, assortment planning and inventory optimization tools.  The role will also monitor the market intelligence priorities of the region and deliver solutions via internal and external sources.  The Director will collaborate with adjacent DRiV teams to add value for customers via related business disciplines, including sales, strategic pricing, demand planning and supply chain.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the leader of the US and Canada category management team providing technical oversight, establishing priorities as well as leading HR activities
  • Develop and lead activities related to the commercial vehicle category management function
  • Support sales with customer inventory analysis and order development
    • Review store-level stocking data
    • Recommend adjustments to optimize local coverage
  • Leverage syndicated research, primary research and available transactional data to develop knowledge of assigned categories
  • Work in partnership with brand marketing to inform strategies and measure ROI of related activities
  • Develop data-focused relationships with customers, utilizing available resources to provide category and business insights
  • Partner with product management and sales, delivering data-driven analysis to prioritize new part introductions and deployment to customers
  • Analyze data across assigned categories to identify emerging trends and opportunities for DRiV and our customers
  • Lead development of content for category reviews and sales presentations
  • Implement and manage the annual category size & share analysis
  • Present category overviews and insights to customers, business partners, internal teams and DRiV leadership
  • Complete detailed competitive and category landscape analysis
  • Act as category subject matter expert for all customer data requests
  • Mentor and develop analytics talent across disciplines, maintaining a culture of innovation and continuous improvement

 

 

Key competencies:

  • Strong analytical skills required
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Education - Bachelor’s Degree minimum, MBA preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Category Management or related field
  • Proficient in Excel, with experience in BI tools (Tableau, QlikView, Power BI, etc.)
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure and Power BI a plus
  • Geo-spatial analytics experience preferred
  • Experience working with retail organizations strongly preferred
  • Automotive background a plus
  • Category Management Association certification favorable
