This position monitors and controls inventory and coordinates SAP schedules to meet shipping requirements needed to satisfy customer orders. This position is a backup to the Customer Service Coordinator and the Shipping and Receiving department as needed.  This position is responsible for contributing to a safe work place and minimizing negative environmental impacts by complying with the EHS policies, procedures, work instructions outlined in the EHSMS Training Assessment for this position.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Determine labeling requirements including but not limited to: assemble and pack product containers, prepare and affix bar code shipping labels to customer dunnage or stencils identifying shipping information for cartons, skids, or other shipping devices in an accurate manner including any special labels that are customer required.
  • Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders or other records.
  • Completes daily receiving entries in computer system.
  • Unpacks, examines, and routes incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages and corresponds with Supervisor and Materials Coordinator to rectify damages and shortages. 
  • Reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department Supervisor and Materials Coordinator.
  • Verifies all customer returns, accounts for all material, notifies supervisor, MRR and moves to the hold area.
  • Builds service shipments/kits as needed.
  • Evaluates and coordinates EDI and shipping in an SAP environment.
  • Monitors customer systems and SAP system maintenance.
  • Receives and tracks incoming materials updating data in SAP and required spreadsheets.
  • Initiates, monitors, and maintains expedites and reporting systems.
  • Maintains accurate inventory and properly problem solves to find discrepancies.
  • Assists in coaching Shipping and Receiving Specialists in training.
  • Ensures on time delivery.
  • Works with Shipping and Receiving Supervisor on improvements, changes in customer schedules, shortages, and concerns.
  • Proper operation of equipment to safety and productivity requirements, including but not limited to: Lift truck or hand truck to convey, move or hoist materials to proper departments or areas and operation of stretch wrap machine, bander, and baler.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION:    High School Diploma or equivalent GED preferred

EXPERIENCE:    

•    Must have one year’s previous factory experience. Former warehouse experience is preferred 
•    Must be able to obtain a forklift license and maintain a good standing driving record.
•    Must be willing and able to be trained or have specialized training in areas such as OSHA, IOSHA, DOT, Haz Mat, and RCRA. 
•    Working knowledge of MS Office products to include Outlook, Excel, Word and Powerpoint.
•    SAP experience, various freight software experience, and label matrix programs experience preferred
•    Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing required.  Interpersonal skills necessary to interface with a wide range of internal and external contacts. 

 

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

•    Must be able to lift up to 20 pound trays and lift and carry up to 60 pound packages on occasion.
•    Must be able to lift rarely 25 pound dunnage from floor level to 43” high stacks to assist with dunnage as needed and rarely lift and carry 60 pound tanks of propane from storage to forklift to maintain fuel for forklift. 
•    On a frequent basis must be able to stand and/or walk indoors and outdoors in order to transport materials/supplies, label products, and verify parts. PPE may be required in the areas assigned.
•    On a frequent basis must be able to sit on forklift for intermittent intervals of 5 to 30 minutes at a time, moving from forklift to ground level multiple times, and occasionally on a chair for up to 30 minutes to operate computer.
•    On occasion must be able to lift, push or pull up to 50 pounds to move carts with packages up to 50 feet.
•    On a frequent basis must be able to grip up to 45 pounds bilateral to transport and handle materials and tools
•    Must be able to lift up to 30 pound parts, cardboard, or plastic from floor to waste level.
•    Frequent Hand Coordination to handle materials and tools (grasp/lift/carry)
•    Constant visual perception to view materials, read scale, make adjustments and transport materials.
•    Aspects performed inside the plant facility will have noise exposure. PPE may be required in the areas assigned.
•    Temperature of work area may be affected by outside temperatures and forklift. 
•    Able to work an 8-hour shift on a regular basis and flex to 12 hours as needed.

The following aptitudes are needed in at least a medium degree, ranging from average to slightly above average as compared to the normal population:

  •  With minimal supervision, ability to solve practical problems, interpret, resolve problems and issues using a variety of instructions for guides furnished in written, oral, diagram &/or schedule form.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents for such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in written form effectively with co-workers, departments, and vendors.
