Tenneco has Excellent benefit options that starts upon date of hire, including a medical PPO and high deductible option, dental, vision (basic and enhanced option), life insurances, critical illness, pet insurance, life lock, and other benefit options. Also, there is a 401(k) with an enhanced contribution and matching program. Rate of pay for an Assembly Operator starts at $27.16 per hour and progresses to $28.16 an hour.  

 

GENERAL SUMMARY

 

This position supports daily procurement operations by ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services required for business operations. This role is responsible for processing purchase orders, maintaining accurate records, and coordinating with suppliers to meet delivery schedules and quality standards.

Working closely with internal departments, the Purchasing Technician verifies material requirements, tracks order status, and resolves discrepancies. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.  This position is responsible for contributing to a safe work place and minimizing negative environmental impacts by complying with the EHS policies, procedures, and work instructions outlined in the EHSMS Training Assessment for this position.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides support in the coordination of Stores supply inventory.
  • Sends out all tooling for repair.
  • Evaluation of component repairs. 
  • Performs a physical count of MRO inventory, maintaining records in inventory system.
  • Create and maintain new parts in SAP for business requirements
  • Create and provide reports through SAP for business requirements
  • Process Purchase Orders
  • Understand stock levels
  • Remote inventory of items within the plant related to MRO (skids, cardboard, dunnage, etc.)

    • All team members abide by the location’s Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policy which is enforced by the local leadership, complies with the legal and other requirements and operational controls established under its EHSMS, works towards achieving established objectives and targets, and conforms to procedures consistent with the ISO 14001 standard. 
    • All team members will understand all of the environmental aspects of his/her job. An employee should report, and if necessary, stop any activity that does not conform to the policy or may injure himself/herself.

    • Identifies and addresses non-conforming work, materials, or procedures within a timely manner
    • Each team member has the authority to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of non-conformities relating to the product, process and quality system and has the authority to stop further work on non-conforming suspect product until the deficiency or conditions have been corrected.
    • Takes ownership of work by demonstrating accountability for results and being honest and transparent when things do not go to plan.
    • Follows 5S principles by maintaining, cleaning, organizing, and improving the areas. Also, by making suggestions to get to the next level of excellence and then doing it again.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION:

High School Diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or relevant coursework preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Must have previous manufacturing experience or equivalent.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with ERP systems such as SAP preferred.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for working with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment

 

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

 

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds frequently (up to two-thirds of the work period) with lifting at a variety of levels (i.e. from waist to floor, as well as from waist to shoulder height).
  • On a continuous basis (50% of the work period) must be able to stand and/or walk. PPE may be required in the areas assigned.
  • On a regular basis (50% of the work period) must be able to sit at desk or work bench level.
  • Frequent (from one-third to two-thirds of the time) reaching and handling are necessary.
  • Near visual acuity (20” or less) is also needed on a frequent basis.
  • Occasionally (up to one-third of the time) ability to stoop, by bending the body downward and forward from the waist (bending) is necessary, as is occasional kneeling and/or crouching.
  • Most aspects are performed inside the plant facility with noise exposure. PPE may be required in the areas   assigned.

The following aptitudes are needed in at least a medium degree, ranging from slightly below to slightly above average as compared to the normal population:

 

  • Intelligence/general learning ability.
  • Verbal/ability to understand meanings of words and ideas associated with them, and to use them effectively.
  • Numerical/ability to perform arithmetic operations quickly and accurately.
  • Spatial/ability to comprehend forms in space and understand relationships of plane and solid objects.
  • With minimal supervision, ability to solve practical problems, interpret, resolve problems and issues using a variety of instructions for guides furnished in written, oral, diagram &/or schedule form.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions,
  • Ability to communicate orally and in written form effectively with co-workers, departments, customers, and vendors.
  • Form perception/ability to perceive pertinent detail in objects.
  • Manual dexterity/ability to move hands easily and skillfully, to work the hands in placing and turning motions.

 

A higher degree of aptitude is needed, as would be found in the highest third (exclusive of the top 10%) of the population:

  • Clerical perception/ability to perceive pertinent detail in verbal or tabular material.  To observe differences in copy, and numbers, and to avoid perceptual errors in arithmetic computation.
