PURPOSE/SUMMARY

Responsible for providing production and material planning to support plant objectives for inventory levels; maintaining systems inventory support; and identifying and making necessary adjustments to keep the materials plan aligned with inventory and delivery objectives.  Supports Materials manager and Area Manager by monitoring schedules and suppliers, as well as interfacing with customers on delivery schedules.   

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

In collaboration with Area Managers, establish and monitor inventory levels for

all business areas, including new product launches and Service production.

 

Manages SAP/QAD planning and inventory control parameters to meet needs of changing business conditions and to ensure customer deliveries are met.  (Demand management and customer interface point for EDI forecasts.)

 

Initiates and coordinates corrective actions to resolve inventory level discrepancies.

 

Monitors internal delivery schedules to minimize premium freight expense.

 

Minimizes obsolescence of product at buildout and initiates customer claims.

 

Directs the Materials BOS measurable to assess trends, take corrective actions, and meet department goals.

 

Performs job duties in line with company policies, procedures, and work instructions.

 

Drives and develops policies and procedures.

 

Other duties as assigned.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervise hourly material handlers/shipping and receiving

 

Train and establish backup / coverage plans as needed

 

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

 

BS Degree in related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Minimum of 3 – 5 years of inventory management and/or materials planning supervisory experience preferred

 

Advanced knowledge and experience in SAP and ability to train others in system preferred.

 

Experience in manufacturing, automotive preferred.

 

Strong computer, analytical, problem solving, and communications skills.
