Summary:
The Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing daily operations of the manufacturing facility. This role ensures all business, financial, technical, manufacturing and functions of the facility are met. Directs continuous improvement activities and coordinates the development of the facility’s people, processes and capabilities. Responsible for oversight of the facility’s environmental, health and safety functions. Manages the quality function including compliance with all customer requirements. Ensures the facility reaches performance goals through use of continuous improvement methodologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage all daily operations of the plant the ensure timely production and delivery.
- Develop and implement production schedules, policies, and procedures to optimize performance.
- Monitor production KPIs, efficiency metrics, and quality standards.
- Manage budgets, control costs, and optimize resource utilization.
- Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to ensure equipment reliability and improvements.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives (Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma).
- Manage plant budgets, control costs, and implement cost-saving strategies.
- Report operational performance and issues to senior leadership team.
Responsibilities
- Direct daily plant activities of facility, including supervision of salaried staff.
- Plan and manage all financial aspects of the facility (Annual Operating Plan, capital, etc.)
- Plan and manage all quality, environmental health and safety compliance and regulator aspects
- Champion of plant continuous improvement activities (BOS, Lean, TVM, Kaizen)
- Identify and track key measures to monitor facility/function effectiveness and set and monitor staff goals and objectives.
- Drive development of facilities processes and future capabilities
- Ensure all people and customer requirements are maintained to the highest standard.
- Employee must perform his/her job within acceptable safety, environmental, quality, productivity and performance standards as outlined in plant policies, handbooks and applicable work instructions.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field required.
Required Experience:
- 7-10 years of related business and managerial experience required.
- Held various levels of management positions with proven proficiency and effectiveness.
- Working knowledge of automotive industry and related systems.
- Proven safety track record with demonstrated improvements in plant safety culture.
- Ability to engage a diverse workforce.
- Demonstrated use of Lean Principles to solve problems.
- Supervisory experience including leading cross-functional teams.
- Ability to provide guidance and direction to subordinates, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance.
- Knowledge of ISO and TS Quality Management Systems.
- Strong business acumen specifically around capital purchases, project management, and annual operating budget planning.
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing strong customer service. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System Strongly Preferred.
- Strategic leadership with ability to predict and maintain results.
