JOB SUMMARY: The Receiving & Shipping Clerk is responsible for accurate receipt, verification, storage, processing, and shipment of materials, components, and finished goods. This position supports customer delivery requirements, inventory accuracy, supplier receiving activities, and SAP transaction processing while maintaining compliance with all safety, quality, environmental, and company standards.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Receive, inspect, verify, and process incoming materials, supplies, and purchased components.
- Verify shipments against packing slips, purchase orders, and shipping documentation, report discrepancies, shortages, or damaged freight.
- Process receiving and shipping transactions accurately in SAP and customer shipping portals.
- Prepare shipping documentation, labels, bills of lading, ASN transactions, and customer-required paperwork.
- Load and unload inbound and outbound shipments using Powered Industrial Vehicles (PIVs).
- Stage, move, store, and organize materials and finished goods in designated warehouse locations.
- Maintain inventory accuracy through proper material handling and transaction processing.
- Communicate shipment status, receiving issues, inventory concerns, and shift carryover items with supervisors and team members.
- Maintain required records and documentation in accordance with company procedures and retention requirements.
- Support inventory audits, cycle counts, and continuous improvement initiatives as assigned.
- Follow all safety, quality, environmental, 5S, P3, and company policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support plant operations.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION:
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum one (1) year of warehouse, shipping, receiving, logistics, or manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
- Experience with SAP or other ERP systems preferred.
- Experience operating powered industrial vehicles preferred.
REQUIREMENTS/CERTIFICATIONS:
- Ability to obtain and maintain Powered Industrial Vehicle (PIV) certification.
- Working knowledge of shipping, receiving, inventory control, and warehouse processes.
- Basic computer skills including SAP, Microsoft Outlook, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to read and interpret shipping documents, packing slips, bills of lading, and operating procedures.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and inventory counts.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal departments, suppliers, carriers, and team members.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, bend, lift, carry, push, pull, and use hands for handling materials.
- Frequently required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Must be able to safely operate powered industrial vehicles and warehouse equipment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Manufacturing and warehouse environment with exposure to moving mechanical equipment, powered Industrial vehicles, noise, dust, airborne particles, and varying temperatures.
- Occasional exposure to outside weather conditions during loading and unloading activities.
- Noise level is typically moderate to high and requires hearing protection in designated areas.
- Required personal protective equipment (PPE) includes safety glasses with side shields, hearing protection, and safety shoes while on the manufacturing floor.
