JOB SUMMARY:
The Engineering Manager is responsible for directing, coordinating and assisting in the planning, organization, control, integration and completion of plant-based activities for lean and core engineering competencies. In addition, this position will provide support to Operations, ensuring successful product launches while adhering to TenPlus and quality guidelines.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides leadership and direction to engineering personnel including but not limited to performance management, employee development, and recognition.
- Project management of all installations, new business and continuous improvement projects.
- Direct launch teams and assist plant management to ensure adherence to NPIS, TenPlus and APQP guidelines.
- Contribute to plant profitability objectives by developing and implementing sound cost reduction projects related to scrap, productivity, and overall continuous improvement.
- Ensure all new processes and equipment comply to Tenneco Machine and Safety Standards (TMSS) by managing the TMSS process.
- Modify and manage existing equipment and processes to meet internal and external customer requirements, product, and production requirements
- Maintain a data bank of "Best Methods" for equipment, processes, and procedures to ensure recognition of and progress towards integration of these methods and procedures.
- Define and implement an engineering approach that applies consistent technology throughout the plant.
- Act as primary interface for customer contact on engineering projects and processes to deliver quality products.
- Partner with the Operations to resolve process or equipment issues.
- Initiate corrective actions utilizing 8D format to reinforce the message and resvoling the issue.
- Oversee asset management and utilization plan to reduce idle assets.
- Oversee and facilitate various training programs related to core competencies and standards throughout the plant.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION:
- Bachelors degree
EXPERIENCE:
- 5 to 7 years of Engineering and/or Program Management experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably automotive.
- Minimum of 2 years leadership experience
REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills including written and verbal.
- Must be a strong, hands-on problem solver with firm decision-making capabilities.
- Experience coordinating and facilitating team activity.
- Must have program management and project launch experience.
- Strong computer skills are required for this role.
- Prior work experience in the automotive industry is preferred.
