ABOUT THE ROLE

As part of the corporate Global Trade Compliance Team you are assisting Tenneco locations and central functions across the EMEA region to better understand compliance requirements surrounding exporting, importing, customs, and in particular export controls. You will provide guidance on compliance matters and audit the company’s compliance success as well as collaborating with operations to develop best practices that ensure seamless and compliant international trade - as a vital part of how we live The Tenneco Way with integrity.

 

Our new colleague can be based in Poland, the Czech Republic, or Hungary.

 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establishing a culture of trade compliance to ensure that international transactions are conducted lawfully, including risk mitigation, identifying efficiency improvements and preventing operational disruptions.
  • Subject matter expert in EU, UK and US export controls regulatory requirements and obligations.
  • Provide guidance to the business on import and export laws and regulations, including sanctions compliance, anti-boycott, deemed export, technology transfer, licensing, permits, end-use verification, duty drawback, origin & preferences, free trade agreements, product classification (HTS and ECCN), ADD and other tariff measures, customs valuation, recordkeeping, etc.
  • Developing and implementing global, regional, and national corporate policies, procedures, and practices to ensure full compliance with applicable international trade law.
  • Conducting online and in-person trade compliance training for key functional areas within the organization.
  • Conducting and supporting regular audits and risk assessments to ensure compliance with trade regulations (internal departments and external trading partners such as distributors, customs agents, freight forwarders, warehouses, etc.). Developing recommendations for corrective actions and improvements.
  • Advising on obtaining and managing certifications for supply chain security programs (AEO, C-TPAT, etc.).

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Logistics, Operations, Supply Chain or a related discipline, or commensurate experience, required
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in trade compliance, export controls, or legal required
  • In-depth knowledge of US, EU and UK export control laws (EAR/ITAR), customs regulations, and sanctions
  • Proficiency in trade compliance screening software, ERP and GTM systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ownership, proactive approach,
  • Strong problem solving, analytical, and project management skills
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written
  • Ability to travel
