Commodity Buyer

The Commodity Buyer is responsible for managing supplier relationships and developing strategies for a wide range of commodities across multiple business units and product groups to achieve the best value for Tenneco. 

Job Responsibilities:

• Manage commodity savings and strategies for areas of responsibility
• Prepare, present and negotiate proposals and long-term commercial agreements
• Manage the strategic sourcing decision process
• Drive department improvement in BOS metrics (quality, delivery, service and cost)
• Champion cross-functional VA/VE and TVM activity between Tenneco and sup-pliers
• Liaison to business units and manufacturing plants as assigned
• Build relationships with all plant managers and their teams to work towards com-mon strategy and savings
• Facilitate workshops with plants to generate TVM ideas
• Ensure department and suppliers comply with Tenneco policies and procedures
• Negotiate regional and global contracts
• Develop and execute an operational AOP, and a multi-year strategic plan

What will make you successful:

• Bachelor's degree in business or technical discipline
• Minimum 3 - 5 years experience in Supply Chain Management or related experience
• Leadership

• Corporate SCM experience with international business required
• Strong ability to analyze financial and technical data and reports
• Excellent verbal, written and professional presentation skills
• Fluent in English & Polish language, written and spoken is essential, German would be beneficial
• Excellent negotiation skills and proven success working under pressure driving projects to closure
• Excellent communication skills across various organizational levels is required
• Ability to travel is required (estimate 10 - 20%)
