ABOUT THE ROLE

  • The Quality Manager leads the systems, processes, and team required to ensure products consistently meet customer, regulatory, and organizational requirements. This role is responsible for maintaining an effective Quality Management System, leading customer and supplier quality activities, supporting launch readiness, driving corrective actions, reducing quality losses, and advancing continuous improvement across the plant. The role partners closely with the Plant Manager and Corporate Lead Quality Manager and leads the quality function with accountability, organizational velocity, and a strong customer focus. Based in a manufacturing environment that includes assembly, welding, rubber molding, stamping, phosphate and adhesion processes.   This position reports directly to the Plant Manager.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Lead and maintain the Quality Management System in compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, customer-specific requirements, and applicable regulatory standards
  • Ensure quality procedures, work instructions, standards, and documentation are controlled, current, and effectively implemented
  • Lead internal, external, customer, and registrar audits, management reviews, and layered process audits, including tracking through the Ease system
  • Monitor QMS performance metrics and drive timely corrective actions to improve system effectiveness
  • Serve as the primary quality contact for customers and lead response to complaints, warranty concerns, scorecards, audits, and customer-specific requirements
  • Ensure timely completion of 8D reports, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and follow-up verification
  • Participate in APQP activities from quote through production launch and ensure completion of Control Plans, MSA, capability studies, and PPAP submissions
  • Support safe launch, containment activities, and overall launch quality readiness
  • Ensure production processes consistently meet customer requirements and monitor key quality measures, including scrap, rework, first pass yield, PPM, and cost of poor quality
  • Drive structured problem solving using tools such as 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, and DMAIC
  • Ensure inspection, testing, metrology, calibration, and measurement systems are effective and compliant with customer requirements
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts focused on reducing customer complaints, warranty claims, scrap, rework, and sorting costs while promoting defect prevention
  • Escalate supplier quality issues impacting production or customer satisfaction, issue eMMRs in Titan, track chargebacks, follow up on corrective actions, and approve supplier PPAP submissions
  • Lead, develop, and support quality engineers, technicians, auditors, and inspectors through clear objectives, performance measures, training, and succession planning
  • Some of our customers: Ford, Stellantis, Tesla, CAT, and DTNA
  • Systems used: QMIS, eTIPS, Microsoft Office, Titan, SAP, SharePoint, Power BI, ETQ, Ease, and Keystone 

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, quality, manufacturing, industrial technology or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of Quality Management Systems, including IATF 16949 and ISO 9001
  • Experience with customer-specific requirements, audit readiness, and regulatory compliance
  • Experience leading internal, external, customer, and registrar audits
  • Working knowledge of APQP, PPAP, MSA, SPC, capability studies, and launch quality requirements
  • Strong problem-solving skills with experience using 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, Shainin, DMAIC, or similar methodologies
  • Experience driving corrective actions, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Knowledge of manufacturing quality metrics (KPIs), including scrap, rework, first pass yield, PPM, and cost of poor quality
  • Experience with inspection systems, metrology, calibration, and process control verification
  • Experience working with supplier quality processes, non-conformance management, and supplier corrective actions
  • Proven leadership ability in developing teams, setting expectations, and driving accountability
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across plant leadership, corporate teams, customers, and suppliers
