Job Summary
The Senior Manager – Legal will be responsible for managing designated legal functions efficiently and effectively. This includes providing sound, actionable legal advice, mitigating legal and contractual risks, and supporting business operations with strategic legal guidance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Litigation Management
- Manage all company disputes in coordination with external counsel, including recovery suits, criminal cases, and labor litigations.
- Liaise with government authorities to minimize business disruption.
- Optimize engagement with external lawyers to control litigation costs and monitor spend.
- Standardize external counsel pool, review and align fee structures, formalize engagement documentation, and establish reporting protocols.
- Implement and maintain the Litigation Management Tool, including initial data migration and ongoing updates.
- Provide proactive legal advice to avoid unnecessary litigation and support dispute resolution and settlements.
2. Contract Management
- Draft and review a wide range of legal agreements across business verticals, including distributor, service provider, OEM, Supply agreements, transporter, contractor, and NDA agreements.
- Lead contract negotiations to protect company interests and expedite closures.
- Develop and implement standardized agreement templates, train employees, and establish execution protocols.
- Oversee the Contract Management Tool: drive implementation, stakeholder training, content development, and ongoing support.
3. Compliance
- Advise and monitor compliance with applicable laws, including Legal Metrology, Factory & Labour Laws, PF, Gratuity, Bonus Act, and other employment legislation.
- Analyze new statutes and regulations, assess risks/opportunities, and promptly inform business units of changes and required actions.
- Conduct legal research and provide guidance on commercial and transactional matters.
- Support new business initiatives by evaluating applicable compliance requirements to minimize legal risk.
- Review and train teams on key policies including Antitrust, Competition Law, Conflict of Interest, EHS, and Anti-Bribery.
- Develop processes to safeguard company assets, including immovable property.
- Represent the company in industry forums and liaise with government authorities for new initiatives.
4. Administrative Duties
- Contribute to initiatives aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of the legal function.

Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) with a minimum of 10 years post-qualification experience in a reputed MNC or large corporate.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks, especially Factory Laws, Pollution Control, Contract Laws and Labour Laws.
- Extensive experience in legal documentation and contract negotiation.
- Proficient in legal research, drafting, and stakeholder communication.
- Strong leadership, initiative, and accountability.
- Excellent computer literacy and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
