Program Designer

Position Summary:

The designer is responsible for all design activities within the defined project(s). He delegates and coordinates tasks to assigned him and tracks their execution, keeping defined deadlines and quality. He is the main point of contact for design activities for the Program Team.

Major Deliverables and Responsibilities: (Detailed Job Description)

•           Execution and coordination of Design activities for assigned Project(s),

•           Main Contact person in the project for Design activities, also for the customer

•           Keeping defined deadlines and quality within the assigned project(s),

•           Assignment, control, and reporting of tasks within the Design-team,

•           Creative proposals of design suitable for production and timeline,

•           Ensure standardized design proposal with maximization of carry-over component for his project,

•           Manage the GPDM/ SAP PLM activities related to his project.

Minimum Qualification:

•           Completed technical studies or qualified technicians or qualified technical draftsman

•           Several years as Tenneco SMT Designer or Program Designer of exhaust systems with proficiency in the Execution  of Design Tasks considering function, quality, manufacturability, costs, and Customer requirements

•           Organization skills, able to work autonomously or within a Project team

•           Prioritization, delegation, and management (timing, quality) of tasks to the Team.

•           Is able to provide to the Lead Designer feedback on the performance of Designer(s) that work(s) for him

•           Ability to estimate workload and required resources

•           In-depth Knowledge of Ten Plus

•           In-depth knowledge of Customer specific Design and Release process

•           Ability to communicate within the Program Team including ownership of design milestones

•           Ability to communicate with Design experts at Customer on all Design related aspects of his project.  

•           Creativity

•           Ability to ensure standardization within assigned project(s)

•           Ability to have an overview on whole product family (carry over parts, change management, etc.)

•           CAD-skills in 2D and 3D

•           Software: Catia                                                      

•           Other CAD-Software as necessary

•           Microsoft Word/ Excel / PowerPoint: basic knowledge

•           FMEA:basic knowledge

•           Languages: fluent English in spoken and written

Requisite Experience and number of years:

Minimum 5-8 years of Sheetmetal & Catia Surfacing Experience. Prior Exhaust System knowledge preferred.
