ABOUT THE ROLE
The Head of Taxation is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of tax planning, compliance, and reporting for India. This role plays a critical role in ensuring tax efficiency, minimizing tax risks, and ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations. The Head of Taxation will collaborate with internal teams, external advisors, and tax authorities to develop and execute tax strategies that align with the company's goals and objectives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct & Indirect Tax Management
- Ensure timely and accurate compliance with all tax regulations (Corporate Tax, WHT, GST, etc.)
- Handle complex tax assessments, rectifications, appeals, refunds, and litigation
- Ensure tax compliance for all foreign entities operating in India
- Cash tax forecasting
- Cash repatriation planning
- Formulating tax policies and tax planning of the business
- Support for business valuations
- Assistance on worldwide projects including M&A, internal restructures and legal entity reductions
Leadership & Governance
- Lead the India tax team; guide cross-functional collaboration
- Build and lead a high performing group tax team
- Build strong relationships with consultants, advisors, and authorities
- Develop internal tax policies, risk controls, and knowledge-sharing platforms
- Champion best-in-class tax governance and digitalization of tax workflows
- Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to operate in complex global tax environments
- Able to juggle multiple initiatives and issues simultaneously, including shifting priorities and timelines
- Able to see the big picture – thinking strategically and long-term – but also to roll up one’s sleeves and get into the detail as required
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Committed to resolving problems; and to high quality deliverables in an expedient manner on the timelines agreed
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Qualified Chartered Accountant with minimum 15 years of relevant experience in tax
- Experience of working in Big 4 and in-house
- Leadership experience
