The Electronic Data Interface (EDI) and Enterprise Integrations Subject Matter Expert (SME) will be a pivotal member of our technology team, responsible for architecting, implementing, and managing sophisticated integration solutions that facilitate seamless data exchange across various enterprise systems. This role demands a deep understanding of EDI standards, API management, and enterprise integration platforms, coupled with the ability to translate complex business requirements into effective technical solutions. The SME will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, operations, and external partners, to ensure that our integration infrastructure supports our business objectives and enhances operational efficiency.

 

In this role, the SME will lead the design and deployment of integration solutions, ensuring they are robust, scalable, and aligned with industry best practices. The SME will also be responsible for managing the lifecycle of APIs, from development to deployment and maintenance, ensuring secure and efficient data exchange. Additionally, the SME will play a critical role in troubleshooting and resolving integration issues, providing expert-level support to minimize disruptions to business operations.

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Integration Design and Implementation: Lead the end-to-end design and implementation of EDI and API integration solutions, ensuring they meet the specific needs of the business and adhere to industry standards. This includes defining integration architecture, developing integration workflows, and configuring integration platforms.
  • API Management: Develop, deploy, and manage APIs to facilitate secure and efficient data exchange between internal and external systems. This includes API design, documentation, versioning, and monitoring to ensure optimal performance and security.
  • EDI Standards Compliance: Ensure all EDI transactions comply with relevant standards (e.g., ANSI X12, EDIFACT) and industry best practices. This includes mapping EDI transactions, configuring EDI translators, and managing EDI partner relationships.
  • System Optimization: Continuously evaluate and optimize integration solutions to improve performance, reliability, and scalability. This includes monitoring system performance, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing enhancements to ensure seamless data flow.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with business stakeholders, IT teams, and external partners to gather requirements, design integration solutions, and ensure successful implementation. This includes conducting requirements analysis, facilitating design workshops, and providing technical guidance.
  • Troubleshooting and Support: Provide expert-level troubleshooting and support for integration-related issues, ensuring timely resolution and minimal disruption to business operations. This includes diagnosing issues, implementing fixes, and coordinating with vendors and partners as needed.
  • Documentation and Training: Develop comprehensive documentation and training materials for end-users and technical teams to ensure effective use and management of integration solutions. This includes creating user guides, technical specifications, and conducting training sessions.
  • Innovation and Improvement: Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in EDI, API management, and enterprise integrations, driving continuous improvement and innovation within the integration landscape. This includes evaluating new tools and technologies, participating in industry forums, and recommending improvements to existing processes.
  • Vendor Management: Manage relationships with external vendors (especially application managed services) and consultants, ensuring they deliver high-quality services and solutions that meet our business needs.

 

Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering/Manufacturing technology, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 8 years of experience as an EDI or EI SME, preferably within the automotive industry. Knowledge of industry standards and best practices for EDI & EI operations. Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with EDI standards (e.g., ANSI X12, EDIFACT), API management platforms (e.g., Apigee) and enterprise integration tools (e.g., SAP PI/PO, Boomi)
  • Track Record: Proven track record of successful EDI or EI implementations and optimizations.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to design and implement effective integration solutions.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Independence and Teamwork: Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications in EDI, API management, or enterprise integration platforms are a plus.
