GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

 

The Senior Sales Manager acts as the primary commercial leader and strategic liaison between customers and Tenneco's Engineering, Manufacturing, Program Management, Operations, and Finance teams. This individual serves as the senior Tenneco representative, interacting with purchasing, engineering, quality, operations, marketing, and executive leadership functions at assigned customer accounts.

 

This position is responsible for developing, managing, and expanding existing business while identifying and securing new business opportunities for Tenneco's Powertrain Americas business unit. The role owns the commercial relationship with assigned OEM customers, leads strategic account planning activities, drives profitable growth, supports long-term business strategy, and ensures achievement of annual revenue and profitability objectives

 

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Serve as the primary commercial leader and key customer contact for assigned OEM accounts, building strong relationships across purchasing, engineering, quality, operations, and executive leadership.
  • Develop and execute strategic account plans that support revenue growth, profitability, customer retention, and long-term business objectives.
  • Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities in collaboration with Application Engineering, Product Development, and cross-functional teams.
  • Lead RFQ activities, quotation development, pricing strategies, and commercial negotiations for new and existing business.
  • Manage customer contracts, supply agreements, pricing actions, and other commercial matters to ensure alignment with Tenneco objectives and profitability targets.
  • Lead annual sales planning, forecasting, budgeting, and business reviews while providing accurate updates on account performance and opportunities.
  • Monitor customer strategies, market trends, competitive activity, and industry developments to identify risks and growth opportunities.
  • Drive account profitability through pricing discipline, cost-reduction initiatives, productivity improvements, and strategic business management.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Program Management, Operations, Quality, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Finance teams to ensure successful program execution and resolution of customer issues.
  • Communicate customer requirements and business intelligence across the organization to support effective decision-making and customer satisfaction.
  • Lead or support executive-level discussions involving contracts, commercial disputes, sourcing decisions, and strategic initiatives.
  • Support manufacturing location decisions, launch activities, acquisitions, and other business initiatives as required.
  • Mentor less experienced Account Managers and contribute to the development of commercial best practices within the sales organization.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by management


EDUCATION:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering,Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Sales, or similar.

 

EXPERIENCE:

8-12 years in Automotive Industry
