Position Overview:
The Regional Senior EH&S Manager leads a team of EH&S Managers across multiple US sites, driving the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of environmental, health, and safety programs. This role partners with plant leadership to ensure regulatory compliance, foster a culture of safety, and advance environmental initiatives aligned with company goals. The position requires significant experience in environmental management, a proactive leadership style, and the ability to influence at all levels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of site-based EH&S Managers, providing direction, coaching, and performance feedback.
- Oversee the deployment of EH&S policies, procedures, and initiatives across all assigned US plants.
- Serve as the primary EH&S liaison for regional leadership, ensuring alignment with corporate strategy and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct site visits to assess compliance, identify risks, and support continuous improvement.
- Champion environmental programs (air, water, waste, sustainability), ensuring robust compliance and driving reduction initiatives.
- Champion Tenneco Powertrain’s ISO 14001 Program.
- Analyze EH&S metrics and incident trends, developing action plans to address gaps and share best practices.
- Lead regional audits, investigations, and root cause analyses for significant incidents or compliance issues.
- Collaborate with plant managers to build a culture of safety, accountability, and environmental stewardship.
- Represent the region in external regulatory matters and industry forums as needed.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Occupational Safety, Engineering, or related field.
- 8+ years of progressive EH&S experience in manufacturing, with at least 3 years in a multi-site or regional leadership role.
- Demonstrated expertise in environmental compliance (EPA, state/local regulations), permitting, and sustainability initiatives.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills.
- Ability to travel up to 50% to manufacturing sites across the US.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree or professional certification (CSP, CIH, CHMM, etc.).
- Experience in the automotive or heavy manufacturing sector.
- Familiarity with union environments and change management.
