The ultimate responsibility of these positions is to service customers and to participate in running the Friction Products business. The business situation and individual skills may dictate the method of meeting these responsibilities, but the result will always be superior customer service and the advancement of the business.
The Co-op engineer will develop a role in the design and development process of friction products for our customers. This work may include customer requirements definition, material selection, dynamometer and vehicle validation testing, failure analysis and simultaneous engineering with the manufacturing plant.
The Co-op engineer is responsible for actively participating in the customer teams. As a member of these teams, he/she is challenged to manage the current business situation as well as setting the future direction of the business.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Obtain fundamental knowledge of Automotive brake systems
- Dynamometer testing (build-up, process, report creation, and script creation)
- Vehicle testing (build-up, process, vehicle test driving, report creation, and script creation)
- Develop a working knowledge of friction materials through testing and analysis
- Prepare test requests and sample orders per direction from Application Engineers, Test Engineers and Product Development
- Travel to support business needs
- Ability to read and understand part drawings
- Work with manufacturing facility to understand the prototype and production processes
- Support APQP deliverables
