About the Job:
- You will chemically analyze and perform failure analysis of Tenneco materials, which is critical to the engineering development of existing and future products.
- Offer support to quality departments in Tenneco manufacturing plants, occasionally acting as a third party to provide clarity between plants, customers, and/or suppliers.
- Develop and adhere to stated procedures and work instructions.
- Prioritize and optimize test requests to meet critical customer and manufacturing deadlines.
- Responsible for acting as the Chemical Hygiene Officer in support of EHS.
- Experience with steels, aluminum, bronze, polymer coatings, and various surface treatments is a plus.
Basic Qualifications:
- B.S. in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
- Experience with ICP-OES, SEM/EDS, XRF, and metallic sample preparation
- 5+ years of experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with any of the following tools/techniques: DSC, TGA, FTIR, corrosion testing
- Ability to develop, perform, and document analysis that contributes to the advancement of projects at the technical center or manufacturing sites.
- Capable of interfacing with outside resources to aid in the development of new sources or products for Tenneco.
