Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Apply company manufacturing standards to new product programs
  • Design manufacturing processes for new product launches, including:
    • production capacity analysis
    • process flow design
    • production layout design
    • definition of critical process requirements
    • selection of machine types
    • fixture design concepts
    • definition of the full scope of work for the process
  • Review process requirements with suppliers and track progress for machines, fixtures, tools, and related manufacturing equipment
  • Learn and understand customer requirements in Japan and reflect them in process design
  • Work with engineering to evaluate manufacturability and propose solutions when product design creates manufacturing risk
  • Support value improvement activities by proposing process improvements that reduce cost and improve manufacturing performance
  • Understand fixture and tooling design well enough to ensure the full production process works as one connected system
  • Support quality activities by helping define important process characteristics and inspection methods
  • Develop best practices in process engineering and expand their use with cross-functional teams
  • Participate in regional technical meetings to share progress, lessons learned, and effective practices
