Job Purpose
Responsible for the day-to-day operations within the company’s global trade and compliance organization working to ensure that controlled products are recognized, trading partners and upcoming shipments are screened, licenses are applied for, and colleagues are trained and remain aware of the dynamic export control landscape. The role will be responsible for worldwide activities.
Key Responsibilities
Identify risks of violating laws and regulations relating to exports and denied parties, reporting risks to persons responsible in the business and/or regions. Ensure appropriate actions are taken to mitigate the risks. Will conduct annual risk assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of the export control and sanctions framework.
Ensure all military and dual-use substances, materials, products and technology are identified and maintained in a classification registry.
Ensure export licenses are in place for the export of relevant substances, materials, products and technology in accordance with laws and regulations. Ensure licenses and related correspondence are adequately documented and maintained.
Remain aware of export control and sanction laws and regulations relevant to the business for the appropriate jurisdiction including but not limited to: International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), Directorate of Defense Trade Control (DDTC), and Defense Export Control and Compliance System (DECCS).
Ensure that contracts and/or terms and conditions for the sale of controlled products are in place with export control provisions and end-use statements as required.
Periodically report number and types of blocked shipments, number and types of licenses applied and denied, new products classified, product classifications changed, and risks/vulnerabilities in the export control framework.
Deliver subject matter training and awareness sessions (face to face or virtually) as required by the business and functions.
Job Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Trade Compliance, Legal, Marketing, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
Licensed Customs Broker / Certified Export Specialist
At least 7 years’ experience in trade compliance and 3 years’ experience in export control.
Must have ability to recognize and prioritize between different critical issues leading to resolution.
Strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to work accurately, independently and with a global team.
Effective problem-solving skills with the ability to implement solutions.
Good interpersonal communication skills with the ability to network with internal businesses and functions. Must commit to understanding the needs of stakeholders to drive continuous improvement.
Ability to interpret sanctions regimes control measures as they impact business and functions. Will provide guidance on the implementation of measures.
Proficient in Microsoft Office. Experience using enterprise resource planning (ERP) such as SAP required.
