This position is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES). The position may be based in Northville, Michigan and reports directly to the Snr. Director, MES & Smart Manufacturing Systems of the company.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, and maintain the Tenneco Ignite MES system
  • Develop and support PLC/HMI interfaces for MES integration (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.).
  • Implement machine-level data collection and process monitoring solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve real-time production control issues.
  • Support SCADA, historians, and plant-level data architecture.
  • Collaborate with automation and controls teams to standardize MES connectivity across manufacturing assets.
  • Work with business stakeholders to gather, document, and translate manufacturing requirements into functional MES specifications.
  • Analyze and improve manufacturing processes using MES data insights.
  • Configure workflows, business rules, and user interfaces within the MES.
  • Support UAT, training, and change management for MES rollouts.
  • Liaise with IT and ERP teams to ensure data consistency and flow between systems (e.g., SAP, Plex).
  • Maintain system documentation, process flows, and knowledge bases.

 

Minimum Requirements          

  • Experience integrating MES with ERP systems (SAP, Plex).
  • Familiarity with programming languages and data visualization tools.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity in industrial environments.
  • Knowledge of Industry 4.0, IIoT, and smart manufacturing technologies.

 

Education:  Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.

Experience:

  • 3 – 7 years of experience
  • Experience in MES systems and controls engineering within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with one or more MES platforms (e.g., Rockwell, Siemens, GE, Wonderware).

 

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, industrial networks, and SCADA systems.
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, lean principles, and industry standards (ISA-95, ISA-88).
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally between operations, engineering, and IT.
  • Organization, flexibility, willingness to learn, self-starter
