Job Title: IT Network Lead
Location: Northville, MI
This position is responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, optimization, and security of the organization's network infrastructure. This includes managing network engineers, collaborating with IT teams, managing internal teams and external groups under managed outsourcing services, and making strategic decisions related to network architecture and operations. The role focuses on maintaining network stability, security, and efficiency. The position is based in Northville, MI and reports directly to the Executive Director, Network and Platform Services of the company.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Work with internal resources and outsourcing partners to deliver day-to-day IT operations, ensuring network systems/solutions are meeting and/or exceeding availability and performance service levels.
- Oversee 3rd party vendor on providing break, fix, and troubleshooting service and coordination for the global sites.
- Lead network infrastructure design and implementation for all corporate datacenters and global sites to meet scalability, reliability, and security needs.
- Align network strategies with business and IT goals and ensuring customer satisfaction is achieved globally.
- Ensure adherence to industry best practices and standards.
- Manage and coordinate network related projects and initiatives, ensuring timely project delivery and high-quality work.
- Manage and oversee installation and configuration of network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls, etc.).
- Design and implement secure network architecture, ensuring robust perimeter defenses.
- Implement and manage firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., PCI-DSS, GDPR, HIPAA).
- Maintain network documentation and enforce network security policies.
- Partner with enterprise and regional IT to maintain CMDB accuracy, monitor equipment, and track hardware/software lifecycles.
- Inform leadership of infrastructure costs for transformation and run rate optimization initiatives.
- Coordinate with IT and information security teams.
- Communicate network and network perimeter security issues effectively to senior management and stakeholders.
- Stay up to date with the latest networking trends, network perimeter security trends, technologies, and best practices.
- Assess and recommend network solutions based on the organization's needs and objectives.
- Implement continuous improvements to the network infrastructure to meet evolving business needs.
- Partner with the team to develop and track KPIs and lead improvement initiatives.
- Manage, mentor, and provide training to network team members to enhance their skills and knowledge.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts for network outages, performance issues, and other connectivity problems.
- Provide escalation support for complex technical issues that require expert intervention.
- Act as the point of contact for major network incidents, ensuring timely resolution and minimizing downtime.
- Collaborate with external vendors and service providers to evaluate, select, and manage network technologies.
- Works with vendors and partners on renewal of maintenance contracts, performs periodic service reviews, and develops service improvement plans.
- Act as a liaison between network stakeholders and other IT departments to ensure network requirements are met.
Minimum Requirements
- Personal computer skills, working knowledge of Visio, spreadsheet, PowerPoint, word-processing software required.
- The required work experience must have included network design and implementation, deployment of network data, voice, and security perimeter devices.
- Work experience with deployment of SDWAN-Aryaka technology preferable.
- Experience with securing remote access and site-to-site VPNs (Zscaler preferable).
- Experience with cloud security (e.g., AWS, Azure).
- Experience with several tools and systems e.g. ServiceNow, Splunk, SolarWinds, SIEM systems, ISE, etc.
- Familiarity with automation, and orchestration tools (e.g., Ansible, Phyton).
- Familiarity with emerging technologies like 5G, and IoT.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
Certifications:
- CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, or similar certifications (Cisco, Juniper, CompTIA Network+).
- CISSP, CISM preferable.
- Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE) preferable.
Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in networking with specific knowledge in IT daily network operations and systems management, network project management and network perimeter security; 5+ years of experience working with outsourcing of managed services, budget and financials, telecom carriers and IT vendors and partners.

- Strong leadership and facilitation skills to manage strategy, deployment of technology and day to day operations with IT groups globally, with hands-on experience leading multi-regional or global initiatives.

- Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and other networking protocols.
- Strong knowledge of firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), VPNs, and security appliances.
- Strong knowledge in security protocols (e.g., IPsec, SSL/TLS, DNSSEC).
- Familiarity with network routing, switching, and protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, etc.).
- Experience with SIEM tools (Security Information and Event Management) for event logging and analysis.
- Proficiency in network traffic analysis and packet inspection using tools such as Wireshark, tcpdump, or similar.
