Location: Tenneco Headquarters in Northville, MI

Compensation: Based on experience and class year.

As an IT Intern at Tenneco, you’ll support the design, development, and maintenance of the technology that powers our operations. Internship Placement

At Tenneco, IT Interns are matched with departments that align with their skills, working on meaningful projects that contribute to that team’s goals. They gain valuable experience and insight into Tenneco's culture through hands-on assignments, structured activities, and networking events. High-performing interns may be invited to return for a future internship, extend their current internship into the fall, or be considered for full-time positions.

 

Possible internship placement includes the following:

 

IT Vendor Management

  • Assist with IT contract collection, organization, and uploading into the Venminder SaaS tool, ensuring proper categorization and standardization.
  • Support document cleansing and metadata extraction, ensuring only current, relevant materials are retained and accurately stored for future reporting.
  • Aid in the renewal process by identifying budget owners and assisting with recurring renewal reports to ensure timely contract management.

 

Enterprise Applications

  • Support ERP system optimization by harmonizing and enhancing platforms like SAP, QAD, PLEX, and SIM to streamline business operations.
  • Contribute to application modernization by analyzing legacy platforms and helping develop migration strategies to low-code solutions like Mendix.
  • Assist with AI chatbot development and enterprise integration, optimizing EDI processes and enhancing system connectivity for improved user interaction and operational efficiency.

 

Enterprise Architecture

  • Assist in analyzing, designing, and optimizing IT architecture to ensure alignment with business goals and technical standards, while supporting technology integration, including cloud services like AWS and Azure.
  • Contribute to emerging technology initiatives by implementing AI, Machine Learning, and RPA solutions, utilizing tools such as Automate Anywhere and Microsoft Power Automate.
  • Support business process management and automation by analyzing workflows, enhancing processes, and applying programming skills (Python, Java, CSS) to streamline architecture and data integration for manufacturing technologies.

 

IT Project Management

  • Assist with project planning, tracking progress, and ensuring milestones are met by supporting project managers in scheduling and resource allocation.
  • Coordinate communication among team members and stakeholders, document project deliverables, meeting minutes, and status reports, and keep project dashboards updated.
  • Support risk and change management by helping identify potential issues, tracking risks, documenting scope changes, and contributing to process improvements for project efficiency.

 

Infrastructure & Operations

  • Assist in system monitoring and maintenance by tracking server, network, and system performance, coordinating project tasks, and analyzing data to optimize system efficiency and uptime.
  • Help deploy, configure, and maintain infrastructure components, including hardware, software, servers, storage, and network devices, while coordinating with project teams to ensure timely and effective execution.

Support troubleshooting, security, and backup processes by diagnosing issues, analyzing performance data, maintaining documentation, and coordinating disaster recovery efforts to ensure system integrity and business continuity.

 

Information Security and Privacy

  • Assist in monitoring security systems, analyzing alerts, and identifying potential vulnerabilities or incidents to enhance security measures, while participating in corporate development transactions from diligence through transaction exit to ensure risks are properly managed.
  • Support the implementation and enforcement of security policies, ensuring compliance with standards and regulations, and assist in risk assessments and audits.
  • Contribute to incident response efforts by investigating security breaches, documenting findings, and maintaining accurate security and privacy documentation.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field
  • Ability to commit to a full-time internship for the duration of the program
  • Strong technical aptitude and interest in IT systems, software, and infrastructure
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment
  • Prior internship or project experience related to IT is preferred but not required
  • Familiarity with programming languages, databases, and networking concepts is a plus.
