ABOUT THE ROLE:

 

The Director of Regional Portfolio Accounting is a senior accounting leader responsible for overseeing accounting operations, financial close, balance sheet integrity, internal controls, and compliance with company accounting policies and US GAAP. This role reports to the Americas Controller and serves as the primary accounting and controllership partner to assigned Cluster Leaders and Plant Controllers.

 

This role will provide accounting leadership across the assigned portfolio, support the resolution of significant accounting matters, strengthen accounting processes and controls, and coordinate effectively with Shared Services, Corporate Accounting, Internal and External Audit, and other Finance stakeholders. This role will also drive continuous improvement, standardization, and accountability across the accounting organization.

 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Serve as the primary accounting and controllership partner for assigned business clusters.
  • Provide leadership and support to Cluster Leaders and Plant Controllers on accounting, financial reporting, and control matters.
  • Oversee the timely and accurate completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities.
  • Lead monthly accounting reviews and monitor significant accounting matters, reserves, unusual transactions, and financial risks.
  • Promote balance sheet integrity through effective account reconciliations, appropriate supporting documentation, and timely resolution of aged or unsupported items.
  • Ensure compliance with US GAAP, company accounting policies, internal-control requirements, and established close procedures.
  • Support internal and external audits, including coordination of audit requests and remediation of identified findings.
  • Monitor internal-control deficiencies and ensure corrective actions are appropriately implemented.
  • Oversee the quality and effectiveness of accounting services provided by Shared Services and third-party service providers.
  • Coordinate with Corporate Accounting and Technical Accounting on complex or significant accounting matters.
  • Drive process standardization, continuous improvement, and automation across accounting and close activities.
  • Coach and develop Plant Controllers and accounting teams while promoting a culture of ownership, accountability, and strong controllership.

 

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • CPA, Chartered Accountant, CMA, or equivalent professional certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including leadership of accounting or close activities.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and operational accounting.
  • Experience working in a multi-location, multi entity, distributed controllership model, Private Equity, manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Experience working with Shared Services or outsourced accounting organizations preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, leadership, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders, challenge constructively, and drive issues to resolution.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced and changing environment.
