About the Tenneco Communications Team:
At Tenneco, Communications is built for execution. We don’t operate as a traditional “storytelling” function. We work shoulder to shoulder with the business—moving fast, rolling up our sleeves, and delivering communications that support real priorities, real decisions, and real outcomes.
We’re looking for a Communications Lead with a focus on Social Media and External Communications who thrives in this environment—someone who can align tightly to business needs, execute with speed, and raise the bar on how Tenneco shows up externally.
This role is highly collaborative, highly visible, and requires both strategic judgment and hands-on execution. Creativity matters—but it’s creativity grounded in clarity, purpose, and results.
In this role, you will report to and work side-by-side with the Vice President of Global Communications. You will:
- Own and execute Tenneco’s global social media and external communications, tightly aligned to business priorities and leadership direction
- Work closely with the Corporate Communications team to deliver communications that support real business needs and outcomes
- Translate The Tenneco Way into our external voice, ensuring how we communicate reflects how we operate—focused, disciplined, and execution-driven
- Operate in a high-visibility, high-trust role, supporting communications tied to senior leadership, enterprise initiatives, and critical moments
- Roll up sleeves to develop and deliver content—including written posts, visual assets, and short-form video—often at pace and with limited lead time
- Support PR and media relations efforts, including message development, press materials, and coordination on media-facing moments as needed
- Partner on external website development, managing the end-to-end process for press releases and other content, including drafting, internal review, approvals, and publication
- Drive integrated communication plans around major announcements, campaigns, and milestones
- Partner closely with Communications, HR, Legal, Finance, and regional teams to ensure alignment, accuracy, and timely execution
- Manage multiple workstreams in a fast-moving environment, balancing urgency with quality and sound judgment
- Bring forward ideas, challenge the status quo, and help raise the bar for how Communications delivers across the enterprise
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, English, or a related field.
Experience
- 7+ years of experience in corporate communications or social media leadership, supporting enterprise priorities within a global, matrixed organization
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate across functions and regions to deliver clear, compelling communications that support business execution
- Experience developing and delivering integrated external communication plans and campaigns, aligned with internal communications and executed in close partnership with the broader team
- Proven track record supporting organizational change and leadership priorities through disciplined, well-executed communications
- Experience analyzing communication effectiveness and using insights to continuously improve content, channels, and impact
- Comfortable operating in fast-moving, high-visibility environments, building trust and alignment with key stakeholders
- Experience supporting or leading high-visibility events and leadership moments, including town halls and leadership meetings
- Strong editorial judgment, with the ability to tailor tone and content by platform and audience, and an understanding of how earned media and social channels work together
- Hands-on PR and media relations experience, including shaping message discipline and coordinating media-facing moments
- Strong understanding of social platform dynamics, including algorithms, engagement signals, formats, and trends
Personal Attributes
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create clear, concise, and impactful messages aligned to culture, purpose, and business priorities
- Strong execution mindset, owning work from concept through delivery with speed and discipline
- Deep passion for dynamic corporate communications and social media, with strong instincts for brand voice, tone, and relevance across platforms
- Comfortable succeeding in a fast-paced, matrixed environment, working with autonomy while staying aligned
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels
- Resourceful problem-solver with attention to detail and a bias toward action
- Experience collaborating with graphic design and video teams, with comfort using tools such as Canva or similar platforms to support multimedia storytelling
