RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate sourcing and vendor management needs with Tenneco Clean Air Purchasing team.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive commodity sourcing strategies aligned with the company's overall business goals and objectives.
  • Identify best in class sources, processes and solutions.
  • Perform purchasing activities for direct material commodities. Includes negotiating pricing, terms, delivery, and quality.
  • Manage the RFQ/RFI process including RFQ development, follow-up, analysis and recommendation.
  • Maintain required KPIs (material cost reduction, payment terms, contracts/T&Cs, supplier rationalization, localization, etc.) and manage vendors and vendor relationships to ensure on-time delivery, fill rate, and quality expectations.
  • Prepare required data and or documents for supplier meetings or negotiations.
  • Prepare financial analysis of RFQ results and communicate optimal options to stake holders.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, quality, and production, to ensure that sourcing decisions meet technical and quality requirements.
  • Monitor market trends, global supply chain dynamics, and geopolitical factors affecting the automotive industry to proactively manage risks and opportunities.
  • Conduct periodic business reviews with vendors to address open issues and opportunities.
  • Evaluate and monitor contract performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree in business (Materials Management, Supply Chain or Engineering required)

 

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in Purchasing or related functions.
  • Experienced in development of source selection criteria, source selection and negotiation of direct material commodities.
  • Experience with any of the following commodities is strongly preferred: steel, tubing and stampings/fabricated assemblies.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and technical documents.
  • Strong spreadsheet analytic skills with experience managing large data sets.
  • Analytical abilities necessary to plan and prioritize own work, complete work on schedule and maintain required records and logs.
  • Flexibility to handle changing situations and assignments.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to present information, respond to questions and exchange information with internal team members of varying levels and suppliers.
  • Knowledge and understanding of applicable regulatory requirements, such as OSHA standards, TS16949 and ISO 14001 policies and procedures.
  • Travel locally and regionally as required (10%-15%).
