POSITION: Module Application Engineer – Tenneco MRS RC/MIS Modular Damper Product
WORKSITE: One International Drive, Monroe, Michigan, 48161, United States
JOB DUTIES: Develop corner modules for all major OEM suspension systems for next generation of vehicles. Work closely with technology partners to integrate the Tenneco MRS damper with a number of external components such as rubber mountings, spring, and bearing. Design, develop and release vehicle suspension components based on customer requirements and Tenneco MRS standards based on internal design rules. Utilize print templates for module systems to drive standardization, efficiency and quality improvement. Coordinate DVP&R’s and FMEA’s and release of drawings and BOM’s. Coordinate and support prototype builds. Understand Tenneco MRS manufacturing module assembly processes and the key processes that affect damper and module performance. Evaluate any deviations to the standards. Support maintenance of the engineering database to ensure that latest templates are available. Ensure functional understanding of key modules and damper attributes and tolerances. Supports new product SOR / DVP including the necessary deeper translation to sub-system and component level SORs. Independently apply expertise from a mechanical engineering discipline to enhance current product designs. Analyze performance of complete designs, evaluate parts, and perform designed experiments with statistical analysis. Provide support to Chief Engineers, Application Engineers, Product Line Engineers (PLE), Functional experts during customer and supplier visits. Support PLE’s and/or Product Management with the product portfolio strategy. Support year-over-year improvement in warranty. Support the development of engineering tools that drive efficiency and quality. Evaluate and recommend new engineering requirements and guidelines. Recognize patent ability of concepts / designs and potential infringement of new product designs to existing patents (e.g. intellectual property issues). Apply engineering methods and tools such as FEMA’s 8D, stress analysis to anticipate and prevent problems and provide innovative solutions.
MINIMUM EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years of experience as Chassis Engineer, Application Engineer, or Product Engineer.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: The required five (5) years of experience as Chassis Engineer, Application Engineer, or Product Engineer experience must have involved automotive parts product development, including FEA and CFD analysis and interpretation of results.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Up to 10% travel required to customer locations for business and product development meetings.
