Job Description
This position is responsible to provide part-time environmental, health and safety support to the Monroe, MI site operation and will ensure that all practices follow regulatory requirements as well as Tenneco standards. The position will be responsible for planning, coordinating and implementing environmental, health and safety programs. This position drives change and implements programs with the specific intent to prevent injury, occupational illness and damage to property or the environment as well as ensuring the company complies and drives world-class safety in regard to OSHA, EPA and other applicable regulations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
· Investigating and reporting accidents, incidents, near misses and unsafe conditions to determine root causes, prevent recurrence, and improve overall safety performance.
· Monitoring and analyzing environmental, health and safety metrics, trends and regulations to identify areas for improvement and develop strategies for continuous improvement.
· Leading or participating in cross-functional teams to identify and resolve environmental, health and safety issues and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
· Conducting audits, inspections and risk assessments of work sites, equipment and processes to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
Job Duties:
· Provides leadership in developing, implementing and managing environmental, health and safety policies, procedures, programs and practices designed to prevent injury, occupational illness, damage to property and offer new ideas to drive world-class safety.
· Collaborates with facility engineers and management to institute control and remedial measures for hazardous and/or potentially hazardous conditions or equipment
· Coordinates the storage and handling of hazardous wastes
· Inspects facilities, machinery and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards and to ensure EHS compliance
· Maintains and updates standards and records of employee training, medical examinations, licenses and certifications
· Responsible for all EHS compliance with company, local, state and federal requirements. This will include, but is not limited to, management of air permits, associated inspections, associated monitoring and annual reporting including air emissions, and storm water permitting.
· Responds to EHS incidents and provides technical support for on-going problem solving and safety investigations.
· Develops effective communication processes to make EHS priorities and performance visible. Consistently coaching and working with facility leadership to be a visible leader on all aspects of EHS such as accident prevention, safe work practices and OSHA compliance
· Prioritizes major hazards and risks across the site and ensures actions are taken to mitigate or eliminate risks
· Leads, coordinates, and participates in safety performance improvement initiatives
· Provides training or coordinates training for all EHS programs
· Other duties as assigned

Work & Education Requirements:
· Education: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field, such as environmental science, occupational health and safety, industrial hygiene, or a related technical field. Equivalent experience may be accepted in lieu of Education.
· Experience: 7-10 years of experience in related field
· Building supervisor experience preferred
· Computer Skills: MS Excel, proficient with MS Office programs (Office, PowerPoint & Word)
· Title V experience (Preferred), DOT training (Preferred), ISO 14001 or 45001 Internal auditor or lead auditor training (Preferred).
Physical Demands
This position requires manual dexterity to properly and safely manipulate tools and controls. This position requires frequent walking and standing; occasional sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
