ABOUT THE ROLE

 

The Application Engineer is responsible for the design, development, validation, and support of engineering products and systems. This role independently executes core engineering activities while collaborating with cross-functional teams and supporting customer programs.

At this level, the engineer applies established engineering principles and processes, manages defined project responsibilities, and contributes to successful product delivery across the development lifecycle.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Customer Interface & Technical Support

  • Support technical communication with customers, including preparation and presentation of engineering data.
  • Interpret customer requirements and translate them into engineering specifications with guidance where needed.
  • Participate in technical meetings, design reviews, and issue resolution discussions.

Product Design & Development

  • Independently perform design and development tasks for components and systems.
  • Create and maintain engineering documentation, including drawings, specifications, and BOMs.
  • Ensure designs meet performance, cost, quality, and manufacturability requirements.
  • Apply standard engineering practices, tools, and methodologies in design activities.

Program Execution & Ownership

  • Own and manage assigned engineering deliverables and tasks within project timelines.
  • Support key product development milestones, including design reviews and release activities.
  • Track progress and provide regular status updates to project stakeholders.
  • Implement engineering changes following defined processes and documentation requirements.

Validation, Testing & Analysis

  • Plan and support validation and testing activities (lab, bench, or field).
  • Analyze test data and provide conclusions and recommendations.
  • Identify issues, support root cause analysis, and contribute to corrective actions.

Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement

  • Apply structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., root cause analysis, 8D) to address technical challenges.
  • Identify opportunities for product and process improvement.
  • Contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work effectively with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and program management teams.
  • Support manufacturing organizations during development and product launch activities.
  • Ensure alignment between engineering design and production capabilities.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical or related field)
  • 2–5 years of relevant engineering experience
  • Experience in product development, testing, or manufacturing preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic engineering environment
  • Willingness to support testing, manufacturing, and customer-related activities
  • Occasional travel as required
  • Solid understanding of engineering fundamentals and product development processes
  • Ability to apply engineering knowledge independently to solve defined problems
  • Familiarity with engineering tools, including CAD systems, data analysis, and validation methods
