POSITION SUMMARY:
Performs designing, machining and building of fixtures, components, and tooling. Working from blueprints and work orders, perform a wide variety of general and technical machine shop duties including CNC, welding, and equipment setup, operation, maintenance, and calibration.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Demonstrates proficiency in advanced machining, blueprint reading, robotics, manual welding necessary to build, alter, or repair tools, fixtures, molds, and machines. Performs equipment setup, operation, maintenance, and calibration.
- Demonstrate proficiency in set up and operation of CNC and/or CAM operations.
- Provide leadership and direction to trainees and other machinists in the set up and operation of machines and machining principles as required.
- Initiate and contribute to continuous improvements in the department’s methods, capabilities, and productivity.
- Follow all company policies and procedures such as the quality management system, 5S/Lean, and Environmental Health and Safety.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school graduate with specialized training in machining principles.
- Be capable of reading blueprints to perform required tasks.
- A strong mechanical inclination with prior experience with equipment set-up/operation/maintenance/calibration.
- Proficient with computers, CAM, and spread sheet programs.
- Good organizational skills with sound written and verbal communication skills.
PRERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Journeyman Tool & Die Card with 8 yrs documented work experience in the trade.
