Lead Technical Engineer for High Frequency (HF) high speed tube mill utilized for manufacture of thin wall stainless steel automotive exhaust tubing.  Responsible for continuous improvement of quality, through-put and cost to meet and exceed internal and external customer requirements.  Requires extensive interaction with Quality, Operations as well as heavy involvement with Production Associates.

Responsibilities and specific duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Responsible for creating, implementing, maintaining and improving capability of  tube-making processes, methods and sequences to achieve quality, through-put and cost targets.
  • Project management of new equipment and tools, including evaluation, specification, selection, justification, acquisition, installation, proofing and operation for tube manufacturing. 
  • Lead, support and encourage improvement projects (Kaizen) in conjunction with Maintenance, Manufacturing and Quality through individual and team development.
  • Assist in the development, performance and optimization of preventative maintenance activities and standardizing production systems.  
  • Create and maintain manufacturing and process documentation as necessary.
  • Train others and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization to implement changes.
  • Demonstrate successful Project Management techniques and abilities by combining Engineering skills and people skills.
  • Ability to communicate, share knowledge, and train production associates.

 
Experience and Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing technology, or industrial technology from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in tube mill operations and engineering
  • Six to ten years of tube mill operations and engineering experience. 
  • Familiar with high-frequency welding, flying cut-off, de-dimpling and de-burring.
  • Proven track record of success within a lean manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in automotive exhaust tubing processes a plus.
