JOB TITLE: Quality Manager
LOCATION NAME: Rings and Liners Division, Manitowoc, WI
REPORTS TO: Plant Manager
JOB SCOPE: Tenneco Manitowoc
POSTION SUMMARY: As a member of the senior management team, reporting directly to the Plant Manager, this position provides leadership and takes ownership of all quality related processes.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Acts as the Champion of the quality function and drives the business to meet or exceed its quality goals.
- Promotes quality throughout the facility and with the leadership team. Plans, implements, ensures compliance and promotes the quality systems with all levels of the organization. Oversees and conducts analysis to assure the final product meets or exceeds customer requirements and internal quality standards.
- Drives and ensures compliance with the Quality Management System (IATF) in line with company’s global Quality objectives, ensuring that businesses/manufacturing processes and metrics are aligned to create high product quality and maintains our competitive advantage.
- Responsible for substantially strengthening Quality systems by developing strong relationships with the manufacturing and engineering teams to drive Quality into the designs and develop, implement and sustain the appropriate system infrastructure and tools (problem solving and risk management) required to reach automotive quality level.
- Identifies and communicates quality objectives
- Identifies corrective actions
- Reviews customer scorecards and customer portals
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND DELIVERABLES:
- Works with the leadership team and shop floor team members to identify opportunities for quality improvements, taking ownership for overall results.
- Identifies and implements best practices. Drives collaboration to achieve operational objectives, deploying lean six-sigma methodologies and automotive quality tools, targeting IATF compliance.
- Partners with suppliers to define and achieve critical quality requirements to drive improvements into the supply chain to meet customer requirements.
- Responsible for overseeing and conducting analysis to assure final product meets customer and internal quality standards. Gathers and analyzes customer data, identifies trends, uses statistics to identify customer needs and make practical recommendations for improving quality.
- Focuses on outcomes such as improved organizational performance and effectiveness, improved productivity, reduction in costs and in measurable bottom-line results (i.e., reduced scrap, decreased product cost, improved quality and increased customer satisfaction).
- Owns facility Quality KPIs and initiates appropriate action to achieve facility and global goals and objectives.
- Utilizes problem solving / root causes analysis tools to define the source of the problem and takes appropriate action to implement and sustain the correction action necessary. Works with the team to obtain buy-in and support for long term solution.
- Assists in the completion and or submission of APQP, PPAP Control Plans, FMEA, Gage R&R, Capability Studies, Customer Score Cards, Layout, etc. for new and existing product.
- Responsible for managing internal and customer audits, taking ownership and leading the team to identify and implement short term and long-term solutions. Visits customers to build partnerships and demonstrate organizational capability to achieve zero defects.
- Leads the Quality Team of 3 direct reports and 14 indirect reports by coaching, guiding and creating developmental opportunities. Promotes a respectful work environment and recruits, develops and retains team members to maintain a qualified, motivated and productive workforce.
- Assists in the preparation of the quality department budget. Reports on any major variances.
- Leads by example, following and promoting Tenneco’s values.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s Degree (BS or BA) in Engineering or an applicable field or an Associate’s Degree with equivalent experience required.
EXPERIENCE:
- 5-8 years of Quality Management experience in a large manufacturing environment preferably in the area of machining or metal forming.
- 5+ years of management experience in an applicable environment.
- Extensive knowledge of ITAF standards and proven experience with implementation and on-going certification.
- Proven experience leading and driving continuous improvement, operational transformation and business excellence.
- Prefer 6-Sigma Black Belt with extensive project experience.
- ASQC-Certified Quality Engineer or must commit to take CQE exam.
- Must have strong communication along with excellent computer and organizational skills
