II.         SUMMARY:  Perform layout (dimensional analysis) of gauges, parts, fixtures, and tooling to print specification.  Perform certifications and studies of parts, gauges, and fixtures, complete documentation for various reports and initial sample submissions.  Maintain calibration for all measurements instruments.  Must be able to work well with all plant disciplines, customers, and suppliers.  Individual needs to be self-motivated, aggressive, and able to work well with others. Responsible for performing dimensional inspection activities to support IATF 16949 Measurement System Analysis (MSA), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) Customer annual validations, and 8D problem resolution requirements.

 

III.       ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Additional duties may be assigned as needed.)

  • Manage Gage Trak® system. 
  • Measure gages, parts, tooling, and fixtures using CMM, Calipers, Height Gages, etc.
  • Program and run PCDMIS software.
  • Program and run Poly Works® software.
  • Analyze drawings of parts, gauges, and fixtures to determine proper layout sequence.
  • Create CMM programs to check dimensional integrity of parts, gauges, and fixtures.
  • Perform layouts of parts, gauges and fixtures using a coordinate measuring machine and other measurement instruments.

Create and/or assemble required documentation for initial sample submissions.

Maintain the gauge calibration system, including purchase and tracking of measurement instruments.

  • Employee must perform his/her job within acceptable safety, environmental, quality, productivity and performance standards as outlined in plant policies, handbooks, and applicable work instructions. 
  • Perform capability studies on parts, gauges and fixtures as requested by Engineers and the customer.
  • Perform gauge studies to determine measurement effectiveness. 
  • Perform other duties as requested by Supervisor.

IV.       QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Demonstrated understanding of geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  •  Ability to read and write, to understand technical documents and to complete various records   and reports.

Knowledge and application of statistical techniques.

  • Computer programming or computer literacy and demonstrated logic skills.
  • Good mechanical aptitude (and skills).
  • Ability to work independently, with minimum supervision.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with GD&T, Faro, Brown and Sharpe equipment, and computer programming.
  • Reverse Engineering
  • Romer® CMM
  • Microsoft Office Tools
  • GD&T Print reading
  • Minor repairs to gages
  • PPAP layouts and support
  • Problem solving 8D understanding.
  • Ability to work daily overtime / weekends.

VII.     ELIGIBILITY

 

Candidates will be considered eligible by meeting the following minimum requirements:

Achieving Acceptable Employability skills:

    1. Good attendance (no more than 4 occurrences in 12 months, no less than 16 attendance hours.
    2. No warning notices for 90 days
    3. Performance Improvement Plans closed for 90 days.

 

VIII.    SELECTION CRITERIA: 

Candidates will be evaluated based on the following:

  1. Performance: Good annual performance review, no warnings or PIP within 90 days.
  2. Reading and Mathematical Evaluation: Employees must score 70%.
  3. Excel Evaluation:  Employee must score 70%.
